Studio Tour and the Tale of the Hole

In this behind the scenes video, I give you a tour of my studio, and my bookshelf, and tell you about the insanely large hole in my backyard. I promise the thing about the hole is WAY more exciting than it sounds.

So you're a foot swinging mug gripper (In most videos you're literally gripping a mug of something).

Jeff Milne

I had no idea that you were doing your videos in a garage! I always assumed it was a spare room so the illusion with the walls is quite effective. As for the hole? Might it be some form of ventilation or drain? It's puzzling, my curiosity would hound me relentlessly until I knew for sure what it was.

Jason Knight

I have the orcrist letter opener

Graves

Off topic, but thanks for the Renaissance fair video. My January fantasy novel is mostly set at a Renaissance fair, so I am especially appreciative.

John Adcox

Next time, I want a tour of the rest of the books on your shelf that don't usually appear in the video! Thanks for the behind-the-scenes look at everything :)

Allison Gliot

Thanks for the look behind the scenes Jess!

BlueSkies

Great tour Jess, love the studio! Never would've guessed it was in a garage, had me fooled. It's a yes from me for both a blanket on the chair and a map or something on the wall, maybe some classic Middle-earth artwork from John Howe or Alan Lee? Lee does a great yearly calendar, I think the 2024 theme is The Fall of Númenor.

Ooh the Leviathan series, that was a throwback! I loved them in high school! Super cool peek behind the scenes! I also love your dice, I would love to hear about your D&D/TTRPG characters!

Ieva Dapkevicius

Evidently, you have Gnomes living under your backyard. Cool set up! Thanks for the info on the books on the shelves; my ADHD is always trying to read the titles. Lol.

I'm sure you're not looking for suggestions, but I have one of these above my desk at work so I can look up from my screen and go for miniature adventures :) https://photos.app.goo.gl/LsUphzkoWdNaBbiJ8

In college, I loved the Tolkien artwork by The Brothers Hildebrandt. Their artwork can be found in their Spiderwebart Gallery. Tim and Greg Hildebrandt were twins. Greg would start on one side of the canvas and Tim on the other. Unfortunately, Greg died a number of years ago. Their artwork might be a great feature for you to talk about in one of your videos. One of their paintings would look great in your studio. Just and idea.

John Christopher DeRobertis

Oooh that would be nice!

Jessica Gliot

Oh yay!

Jessica Gliot

Me starting under anesthesia at my next colonoscopy: "Here ... comes ... the ........ hole camera ....."

OnlyAShadowOfMe

The illusion is shattered!! :) Thanks for the tour, I now want to dig up that hole LOL. Love your content Jess.

Adam

Are you sure that is a miniature Sting replica and not just and actual hobbit sized one?

Sean

A small print on the wall to your right with a Tolkien theme important to you would be nice and I like the idea of a throw across the back of the chair. My friends in video production all seem to like complexity in the background of a set. So, if you enlarged the hole entrance, might there be an alternate Moria studio. :)

Ron McCoy

I always just thought you had a cozy little corner in your room, you did a really good job on the setup!

Mav

Dwarf doors are invisible when closed... except when a boss has a hole-camera

Nathan Swapp

Exactly!

Jessica Gliot

NEAR a hole in the ground, there lives a hobbit. 😁
