Interface Trailer & Spring Update

Above is a trailer for Interface. After all this time, I never created a proper one - but there is a reason why, other than for just promotion.

During the past few months I've decided to commit myself to getting Interface made into a feature live action film. I'm not a fan of talking about stuff that isn't 100% going to happen, but I owe it to you, since you're all my top supporters - and I want to welcome you into the process. It also partly explains why my uploads have become less frequent - because a good majority of my time has has gone into making this happen. A lot of emails, writing, meetings etc.

Step one was finding an agent, not exactly an easy process... but luckily for me through some of the connections I've made over the years, I found the right one one (we think!). One of the good signs was when they talked to their business partner about the project, not only was he already aware of Interface, he watched it entirely and was already a fan. :P

Step two, is distilling the project down into a comprehensive, easy to understand and compelling pitch package. Also not an easy task! But part of that package involves creating a professional trailer. And thus, the reason why this trailer is being posted today. We're probably 50% to 80% of the way through step two.

Later in the year, ideally when step three happens, and if it happens, is presenting this project to studio executives. Now, I don't want to get any of your hopes up. Thousands of projects are pitched to studios every year, and even ones that do get accepted, often go through a process aptly described as development hell. Even if a film is entirely made, there is no guarantee for release. It could be years of work for nothing but I just wanted you all to know, I've chosen this path.

It seems like with all the recent developments of AI, robotics and this cultural shift that is moving away from super hero franchises to surrealist projects (A24’s Tuesday, Adam Sandler in Spaceman) now is the time to act.

So there it is. I don't know if I'll be able to give you any more updates on this for a very long time and I won't really be able to talk about on streams or anything, but hopefully this gives you an idea of what's happening behind the scenes. Apart from that, more music is coming, another Safe Mode, more paintings, and an 8 minute surrealist war animation that was sponsored by a big game studio (they're just taking forever to get their ducks in a row about the release).

Until next time :)

INCREDIBLE NEWS. BEST OF LUCK

Keep me posted if this gets off the ground. I’d like to audition for the role of Henryk.

I haven't but I'll check out the trailer. Strangely, the lighting of Interface was more inspired by traditional film lighting and the watchmen comic book (key lights, dark shadows) than typical animation that is usually flat. I imagine the translation won't be too difficult in that sense.

I think the thing I'd be most interested about a live action adaptation of Interface is how you would translate the stark primary colors and shadows into that medium. Immediately what comes to mind is Tarsem's The Fall, have you ever seen it?

Let’s hope for the best!
