Have you read Stephen Baxter's Books, World Engines: Destroyer and World Engines: Creator? They are sci-fi but I mention them as they include people from lots of different alternate realities, such as one where Neil Armstong died just before setting foot on the moon - which leads to a much-expanded space programme, another where Russia becomes a constitutional monarchy after there is no October revolution, and another where Lord Halifax instead of Churchill takes power in the UK in WW2 and after making peace with the Nazis, the UK goes on to develop a space empire.

What if the Triple Entente powers won world war One by Christmas (1914)? This is not in any way realistic but growing up in the UK, this is what I was taught to believe that ordinary people in the UK thought was true - and one reason why the war was popular at first.
