Imo what makes it bad is the lack of focus, less than a quarter of the chapters are about the mc, the rest are about a bunch of side characters. Because of that the pacing is slow as hell, to the point where the mcs tie in with most other characters isn't even likely to happen in the next twenty years (irl time) conside ring the update rate of one chapter every two or more months.

did you not pay attention to my paragraph? Why else would I consider the image to be a great piece of art for visualization if it did not represent part of the story quite well? The banner, however, is best as a representation of the entirety of the story, and not just a *subsection* of the north that we're most familiar with.

I remember skyclad being one of the worst novels my eyes had ever laid themselves upon. Weird how one can have such an interesting concept yet write that thing.

it's good art but it's pretty bleak. 'a piece of fine work both on its own and as a visualization of part of the story, but it's frankly pretty depressing for something meant to represent the whole shebang.

I always imagined the mountains as a continuous climb upwards and some small crevices which they would run through but this looks good too

pretty much how I imagined it, in my head the mountains were even bigger but then, they would not really fit into a banner.

My graphic imagination is pretty bad, so this is really really great for people like me. When I watched Jackson's LOTR the images replaced pretty much everything I had had in my own mind, having read the books long before those movies. It was easy, since I did not have much to begin with. I rely on others to provide the images to incorporate into my imagination. This one looks sooo much better than anything my own brain came up with for the North. I don't play games but I watch certain game walkthrough ("no commentary") movies for the same reason - to "download" beautiful sceneries and images for my brain-internal use. I think there could/should be much more cooperation - maybe RR could do something - between writers and illustrators. Fantasy novels of all literature types are the prime example where illustrations fit in really well, different from novels about stuff where everybody knows how everything looks like.
