2025-08-27 17:29:51 +0000 UTCWhen Oikura mentions "You wouldn't be happy if it weren't for math and it's because of math that you have a girlfriend" it's in fact, the truth, without his good grades in math Araragi would not have entered the school he currently attends, meaning he would never have met Senjougahara (or so we assume) or Hanekawa, etc. So "I hate those who are happy and don't know why" is very strong for Araragi since literally the happiness he enjoys right now is largely thanks to having learned math from Oikura. If we focus on this I think it's completely understandable why Oikura hates Araragi, you have to look at the whole picture. She taught him math, she didn't receive anything in return, Araragi did not live up to her expectations. In high school she meets him again and Araragi again did not live up to her expectations (he did nothing when the class and her teacher blamed her) two years later she returns to class and finds out that this person who has failed her repeatedly is "Happy" and in large part thanks to what you taught him without being aware of it, while you avoid going to school because of what happened.
