Stein's;Gate 0 is 100% canon and in my opinion greatly contributes to the series ( I like it even more than the original). It's just that it isn't exactly a "season 2" but something more or less optional that you can watch but don't necessarily have to. However, I can't tell you more than that without spoiling the plot of 0. Also there are many VN readers in the Stein's; Gate community who discourage other people from watching Stein's;gate 0 since according to them it's a shit adaptation of the VN. I haven't read the VN so I don't really care about what they say about 0 since I've enjoyed it a lot. So basically it's not a given that every reactor watches 0. Many just stop at the original Stein's; Gate either because they are not interested enough to continue or are discouraged by other people.
