It's based on another visual novel, which came after the original one. In fact, 0 does expand on the THIS story, lore and characters but not exactly like a sequel would. It's honestly hard to explain it without spoiling what it is about exactly. Basically everything that you have watched so far matters and did happen in 0 with the exception of one key "thing" that you will see in the OVA that leads into 0. Stein's;Gate 0 does not retcon this ending but makes it even better instead. I can only recommend it. It's an amazing and very emotional story and my favourite part of Stein's;Gate. However, it's your decision if you want to watch it or not. You could maybe make a poll and ask the community if we would like to watch it and if it wins you could watch the first few episodes and see if you like it. Who knows maybe you will even find out who Suzuha's mom is in 0...

2025-09-15 22:44:42 +0000 UTC"episode 25" is essentially an anime only non-canon OVA episode. episode 23B is canon, and is technically episode 0 of Steins;Gate 0. If you don't watch it before starting Steins;Gate 0, you will be very confused.
