2025-11-10 05:09:54 +0000 UTCHoly, I locked tf in. Now that I remember, I think I started to get invested in Oikura like AFTER I stopped rewatching zoku owari. So I didn't really appreciate her scene that much. Also aside from her, characters like ononoki and tsukihi too, this arc really gives them a spotlight Oikura my goat being so happy and then suddenly just figure out on her own that this happiness feels like a lie, really brings me back to the scene in her room back in owarimonogatari when she said something along the likes of "I couldn't bear the weight of happiness and how I'd rather just embrace suffering". She was just drinking tea and leaning on araragi's chest, and suddenly depression kicks in. Justice for oikura pls Ononoki really drives the idea that on every "peace peace" and "I said with a posed look" scene she did throughout the series, she was just unable to show her emotions cuz she's a doll. And tsukihi too, in a world where every character shows their other sides, she managed to be unique in how ordinary she is Maybe I treated this arc too harshly lmao

I read this as at least part of the reason, Ougi relatively quickly gave up on making the lesser sister face her true identity. Part of Tsukihi's steady state seems to be a fixed ignorance of her nature as the immortal Phoenix. Though she senses that she might not fully be like other people. I imagine, there was some kinship felt by Ougi for a fellow liar, albeit one who does not know of the lie and can therefore live comfortably within it, not being chased by The Darkness. Some envy too. While Ougi is an impostor by inclination, Tsukihi is an impostor by virtue of simply being .
