doctor who s3 e13 [full length]

The finale setups of this season in terms of time mechanics and lore is masterful. Episode 1 we setup up our new companion. Episode 2 (Shakespeare Code) we learn about language magic/science (brought back with the "doctor" prayer). Episode 3 we get "you are not alone." Episode 6 we get into the aging control science and the Saxon shady government intrigue is fully introduced. That's further hinted at in episode 7. Episode 8/9 we learn about the chameleon circuit science. Episode 10 (Blink) we learn about the bootstrap paradox and self-feeding nonlinear event sequences so we can later comprehend how Saxon was around since before Martha even met the doctor. Then of course 11 brings back the master to take us into the finale. Not only did we get the trickle of Saxon through the season, we got introduced to all the important elements of mechanics and physics needed to understand the lunacy of the finale. Bravo. When I first watched the show, I hadn't seen classic who so it was really the shock of it being a time lord, not it being the master. But then I went back and watched the entirety of classic who and I can only imagine how thrilled long time fans must have been to see the master again. Fun fact, John Pertwee, who played the third doctor, and Roger Delgado, who played the first master, ended up being incredibly close best friends in real life. That chemistry really bled into their "enemy" on screen relationship to create such a complicated frenemy dynamic. It just kind of continued throughout the show until we see it here. Roger Delgado died after playing the doctor for only a couple seasons (though he was in most of the episodes) and Pertwee was absolutely devastated. It's a dark parallel to see Tennant sobbing over John Simm. Season 3 had some real bangers but there's so much more good to come.

i think going forward (and i'll post this separately when relevant too) i will do torchwood every other week as a timer only for season 2, and then fully react to torchwood season 3 for both patreon and youtube! no worries about the break, thanks for being here!

I love this finale so much! It's so good!!! The Face of Boe is Jack XD I hope you are going to watch Torchwood going forward. I feel you'll like season 2 a lot more than season 1. Technically you should see up to episode 8 of Torchwood before you get to episode 4 of Doctor Who (that's episode 4 not counting the Christmas special). I got to take a break for a couple of weeks from patreon. But I'll be back to keep watching with you

To quote this comment I found on YouTube “ In the episode Utopia, at the end of the Universe, Martha said something along the lines of "Remember the Face of Boe. His dying words. You are not alone." Jack was standing right there. He heard what she said because he responded by saying to the Doctor "You might not be the last one." Did he register exactly what she said? Maybe. Because think of all the things Boe could have said, all the secrets he could have told, but didn't. Because Martha had already told him what his last words would be. He had to wait billions of years to say them, but without realising, Martha had told Jack he would eventually die, that he would be unrecognisable as the person he was (they didn't recognise him as the Face of Boe) and that his dying words would be You. Are. Not. Alone. He knew these would have to be his final words, or else, he could be disrupting events in time. In the series 2 episode 'New Earth' the Face of Boe thought he was dying and so contacted the doctor thinking his secret needed to be told, but then he saw Rose. And knew it was too soon. The Doctor still had to meet Martha, and she would have to be there when he died. So did Jack know from what Martha said? I think he might have done. I think that might have been why he told that story in the series finale. He asked what he would look like and then suddenly went into this tale from his childhood, into how he got his name. Then he left. Think about the way he made that revelation. He knew and he was telling them straight.”
