2025-01-21 22:38:48 +0000 UTCThe nu Who 2005 Daleks were designed with Billie Piper (Rose's) eyeline in mind. As you mentioned Karen Gillan (Amy) is taller, so part of the iDalek redesign was to make them bigger to match Amy. The idea behind the colours is to signify different types of Daleks for example a strategist, commander and drone types etc. Also in the 1960s there were two separate (from the TV show) Doctor Who Daleks cinema movies and they showed Daleks on the big screen in colour for the first time and had them in different colours. With the TV show only being in black and white at the time, the impact of this had a lasting effect so writers Mark Gattis and Stephen Moffat wanted to recreate that feeling with the new iDaleks. Enjoying your reactions keep up the good work 😀 really looking forward to the next story.

2025-01-20 01:02:35 +0000 UTCHaving Daleks fighting Nazis is ironic considering they’re based on The Nazis

2025-01-19 16:44:03 +0000 UTCChurchill was famously never seen without a cigar. In his legacy, we see it part of him as his accent.

2025-01-18 21:27:40 +0000 UTCMoffat apparently thought the "last Daleks except for the next one" schtick had gotten tired too. He comissioned this episode to establish the Daleks as a normal part of the universe again like they were in Classic Who. No more explanations needed, they're just there when the writer wants.

2025-01-18 21:10:54 +0000 UTCTotally get where you are coming from on the Daleks, they can be over used, they are cast as this unbeatable foe only to be beaten everytime. The thing about the Daleks is that they are a cultural icon for Britain, when they came onto our screens in the 60s it was still the early days of wide spread tv consumption & the country hadn't really seen anything like it except in the odd Hollywood movie They garnered a reach that went beyond the shows audience in the same way everyone knows The Enterprise & Spock is from Star Trek or Darth Vader is from Star Wars whether you watch them or not, everyone recognised them. In the mind of the British public you can't have Dr Who without The Daleks. One more thing but i am afraid I have to disagree with you when you referenced the repeated showing of the crack from Amy's bedroom as something we haven't seen before. Its something we have seen in all the previous seasons with a thread that is repeatedly referenced 1: Badwolf 2: Torchwood 3: Harold Saxon 4: Disappearing planets

2025-01-18 16:15:40 +0000 UTCI'm afraid you're in the tiny minority of people who like the new Power Ranger Daleks. This episode was decent, but one of the weaker filler episodes of an otherwise amazing season.
