2025-02-05 21:18:38 +0000 UTCI really hope you watched the new ED as well. The same melody but completely different lyrics. Compare the new lyrics to the first EDs lyrics and you will see that they are structured as a Call and Response. The lyrics in the first ED are from Himmel to Frieren and in the second from Frieren to Himmel. Many anime that run a 24 to 26 episode season split that season into ‘cour’ (a cour is half of an extended season) and the OPs and EDs often change to indicate that. USUALLY they will start the new themes at the halfway point - episode 14 for a 26 episode series. To explain the seemingly late switch for Frieren, I would guess that it made more sense here as this is technically the beginning of the Magic Certification arc. All the new faces you saw in the OP you will be meeting in episode 18.
