Soul Degradation

Magical resurrection is quick, clean, and simple. For those with enough coin deadly mishaps and lethal mistakes are practically nonexistent—the return to life is but a spell away. Consider making resurrections a much more interesting and character building affair. What happens if you attempt to resurrect someone a bit later than you should be able to? What if the soul has been wounded? Or if the soul can't come back, and someone or something else answers the call of the resurrection? Psychopomps rejoice because it's all covered here! Death-defyingly designed by Levi Thompson, illustrated by Xanditz.

Levi is an excellent designer, most especially when he brings us unique, well-thought out, and proper experience-enhancing stuff like this (not just an add of more cool, but *improves* the cool that is there already). ♥

In my last game we waited too long for Revivify on an NPC we'd been charged to protect. If we'd had these rule it would have been past the 6th level, but if we'd thought of it just one or two minutes late this would have offered some really interesting options for the NPC. Several of them would have been well within the story line, too!
