Adventure: Crime Never Pays

Falkenberg merchant Gideon Speltz’s house has been burgled and he is desperate to reacquire some of the stolen items, posting fliers in all of the city's ale houses offering a reward for catching the miscreants. Chasing down the thieves responsible (the Shallowpot Street Kings) reveals what the wealthy trader actually wants to get back and the true treasure at the heart of it all. This adventure in Elissar for 4–6 PCs of 2nd level was discreetly designed by Thomas Pugh, illustrated by Francita Soto, and features the cartography of Russ Morrissey and Adela Quiles.

Sounds like a good party innit?

The title Is Crime Never Pays, but I think that serves mostly as a challenge to a party like ours. I spent 20 minutes considering how to 1. claim the painting was burned and we only followed Sadie because she was making off with the frame, 2. clean out the smuggling stash, 3. turn the painting over to the excise men to use against Speltz so we can get a reward for turning in the smugglers 4. come away with really nice boots for everyone in the party.
