Intriguing Organizations: Marginalia

This clandestine network of scribes, other artisans, and managers of royal affairs hide symbols for each other within their work to indicate the sanity and demeanor of their masters. A strange doodle in the corner of an illuminated manuscript is charming to most, but to the Marginalia it means the difference between a kind lord or murderous tyrant. Includes the Artistry Swarm (CR 3) and Royal Adviser (CR 4). Duplicitously designed by Andrew Engelbrite, illustrated by Hector Rodriguez.

It's a super solid Intriguing Organization, and that video game looks AWESOME (and is on sale now, I think I have to buy it).

I absolutely love this!It reminds me to of Inkulinati (a video game in which you fight as a scribe controlling little marginalia characters.)

The history of doodles in illuminated manuscripts is *WILD* and there's a lot of crazy stuff to be found around old documents (some of it quite NSFW). Lots of bunnies. My favorite is this one with an axe. https://blogs.bl.uk/digitisedmanuscripts/2021/06/killer-rabbits.html

I'm married to an art historian who works as a graphic artist. I'm going to start looking more closely at her margins.
