2022-11-23 07:37:28 +0000 UTCI'm so glad I could help lift your excitement about the novel even more. ๐ฅฐ And that the Drive works (there are only three parts on the Drive, but it's due to distribution in other places of the novel than the official translation, not because it's not the whole novel). There is also a manhua version, which is very faithful to the novel (the only other faithful adaptation should be the audiodrama, but I didn't get to that yet and heard only some parts, so I can't share my own experience with that). The official version of the manhua is censored off sex scenes, but the author is an amazing person, so they draw sex scenes anyway and post them on their Twitter (https://twitter.com/maotuanxjj?t=AgpM8xUWCVBIYaYkOK2Yjg&s=09). You can find fan translations all over the internet, and the first volume should be officially published very soon. Even though I still love the novel more (because I love books in general with long descriptions of thoughts and everything), I absolutely love the artists' style in the manhua and how faithfully they managed to capture all the characters there, so it's definitely worth checking out too.

Even though I've already bough the first three, I want to wait until I have the complete set, because if they are in any way as awesome as the show (and they obviously will be, let's be honest here) I'll rush through them in a couple days (just like with the show)!!!

The last volume (5th) of the official translation will be released on May 2, 2023 (but I'm not sure if it will contain the bonus chapters); volume 4 will be released soon (in the middle of December, I think); and the first three you can already buy anywhere. I love the novel and strongly recommend it since I love their dynamic and the whole world-building and story, and the book just adds canonical romance to it. But don't expect just smut (based on my comment), because while there are explicit sex scenes eventually, they have the slowest slow burn before they get there (but it's so worth it ๐). If you are planning to read the novel and don't want to have some extra scenes spoiled, please don't continue to read this comment. In the library scene: "Look at how poised he is. So unbothered. On the outside, because we all know that on the inside he's screaming." It's funny you said that, because in one of the novel's bonus chapters, they visit their dreams, and one of LWJ's recurring dreams appears to be with this exact scenario, except instead of sending WWX away after that porn book incident, he does in the dream what he wished to do all along and fucks WWX hard. LWJ is probably the horniest and most repressed Lan disciple ever. ๐

"I looked at you, and you looked like you wanted them to come along.", the smile that LXC has while watching LWJ and WWX interact on the boat... LWJ can be as stoic as he wants, but he can't hide anything from his brother. LXC is the captain of the WangXian ship. (I'm not sure if you've heard this before, but because their names are so long, their initials are frequently used in the fandom to describe them: WWX (Wei WuXian/Wei Ying), LWJ (Lan WangJi/Lan Zhan), JC (Jiang Cheng/Jiang WanYin), LXC (Lan XiChen/Lan Huan), etc.)

The show never actually specifies their age (only the novel does), so I will add comments with how old they are supposed to be for you to get a better idea of why they act the way they do or how much time has passed. I would love it if you did two episodes per week because, as you said, one episode per week will literally take a year, and, as others have pointed out, as the story progresses, it will become increasingly difficult to stop after one episode due to heavy cliffhangers.
