Maybe August was confused by his own feelings about Day until the kiss clarified things for himself? Like, they used to be and still are pretty in tune with each other + Day had ghosted him for like a year and then suddenly reappeared with a new shadow/bestie/beautiful man at his side, so maybe there was some jealousy there? IDK, I just really hope the writers bring August back around with a better explanation for that bs he pulled, because I agree that the logic just isn't there.
