You kind of know why they did what they did but there's no sympathy because the viewer see that their doing only drags them (and obviously others) further down. We agree, Charbon and Elys have to die, right? No way we can find a cop who would arrest them in this universe. We have to accept on this point the ridiculous Ring-thing. I thought at first, ok, if the rich circle plays the game "who has the ring, leads us" and are behind this the poor can't do anything because the rich families with their hunchman are still establishing the rules. To see that Elys getting the ring made them flee the country now is ridiculous, indeed. He was just a small loanshark before and with a lot less money then them. strange lore here. but we have to go with it. - I'll just rewatch the first half over and over again and ignore the whole forshadowing (((( Jack: "Forgiving is only impossible when you are dead" and Joke:"When I die I come back as a ghost to visit!" - I want a happy end to this series, don't do something "stylish" and kill one of them off to prove a point, please))))
