Some little vote...

Please choose the most art style you'd like; it's a poll for me to know which is the most appreciated.
============================================================================
Gentlemen, I'm deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Since joining the gaming company, my passion for game development has only intensified. I'm eager to learn and improve every day.
Though I have the will, my skill at connecting the blueprint in Unreal Engine could be more mature. Plus, I need more time, so I can't promise to develop something soon or within a year.
I'm busy with my ramblings. I'm learning to insert a character into Unreal Engine and conducting some tests. However, before I create a specific character, I would greatly appreciate your input on the most suitable art style for an accurate gaming development direction.
Currently, I have several styles in mind, the following are:
1. Disney-like characters: (To be honest, I don't know the general name of this style, so I'll call it Disney-like.) Like the rabbit and the fox from Zootopia or the princess from the other animated movie. This style might suit a 3D side scroller, dating game, or RPG. However, I need to find out if the engine can handle characters with hair of millions of vertices.
2. Chibi character: If you need to know what a Chibi is, it's an anime character designed doll-like. Their head is almost as large as their body, and the legs are equivalent to the head's height. This might be the most resource-efficient art style, and the choice of gaming can be more flexible.
3. Japanese Anime Style: The character's body proportions are similar to those of the other characters from the Lunar Soul or MDLSNGBD. This art style is likely leading to a dating game.
4. Realistic character: Have you ever played Skyrim before? If the character is feline-based, her appearance is likely the same as that of the cat people in that game. Though I must confess, making a realistic character is tough enough of a challenge, turning into a gaming character will triple the cap, so opening this option is a suicide mission for me. So the outcome will be a dating game with a pre-animated character in 2D form, the visual novel type of gameplay.
I've also designed a rough draft of Chibi's cheetah-based style character. It is not modeled yet, but I can draw more drafts in different styles once I have a clear roadmap. Also, the breed is not limited; I designed her based on my collected poll data. The file is in another article. Please don't mind the reference one. It gives you an idea of how I design character.
And as usual, you can comment if there's more art style I have not mentioned.
Comments
The cheetah is undoubtedly a good animal reference for the heroine. I'll show the draft once the game's style is decided.

2024-05-14 13:33:47 +0000 UTCI've thought of using Ren'py. But because the company I work for requires the use of the Unreal Engine, if I decide to make a VN game, I might want to try to develop it on the Unreal Engine, even though it's not the best option.

2024-05-14 13:17:20 +0000 UTCI didn't find the dev you mentioned; however, I did find a technique that could be related. The "fur shell technique" seems to be the best solution for characters that have hair; I might try this out if the time allows.

2024-05-13 16:05:18 +0000 UTCYou joined a game company? Congrats. Not really a fan of chibi but otherwise fine with any of the options. For option 1 I've seen a dev by the name of Furrier do alot of fur physics, looks nice but the early versions really killed performance, they've been slowly finding better ways to do it though so might be able to find some ideas from what they've done. If you end up doing a dating/VN game Ren'py is a pretty common engine to work with.

2024-05-12 21:15:14 +0000 UTCI understand that. The realistic character has its own beauty, especially the rarest, and mystical.

2024-05-12 16:28:41 +0000 UTCI will likely choose the style with the highest rate. By the time I write this comment, the anime style is the leading option, though its body complexity is higher than that of the chibi. Thus, it increases the difficulty of game development and limits the type of game it can lead to. With my current skill, it would be a miracle if I could successfully code a visual-novel-like dating game. Also, it seems to be a good start for a noob to start from. Should I use the OC from Lunar Soul for the character? Indeed, creating a new character apart will work, too; the point is this will be the choice made by the community in the future when I'm confident enough to create a game.
