Want a (probably not) neat piece of trivia?

My idea to form this mystical/spiritual connection was derived from a real life linguistic mixup.

From https://mythus.fandom.com/wiki/Mujina:

Mujina (貉 or むじな, Mujina) is an old Japanese term primarily referring to the badger. In some regions the term refers instead to the raccoon dog (tanuki) or fox (kitsune).

The confusion over the term mujina has led to legal consequences in Japan. In Tochigi Prefecture in 1924 a hunter killed a raccoon dog, which he believed to be called a mujina. He believed that badgers were a protected species as they were called tanuki in Tochigi Prefecture. However, the law banning the hunting of tanuki was referring to such raccoon dogs, as a raccoon dog is called tanuki in Tokyo. The Japanese Supreme Court ruled that the hunter was legitimately confused and he was judged not guilty.

When I created Sebastien as a character and chose badger for his species, I had no idea this story existed, and yet, randomly, my tanuki OC ends up with a badger for a husband. It's almost like they were truly made for one another, both in their world, and in a way, mine. ❤️

Happy New Year's. Looking forward to completing this story for you and then telling more.

Fantastic work. That is amazing that you found this information about badgers that can tie in with your story. What a coincidence this has become.
