Syra Wolf in "The Secret"

Hi friends,

It's finally here. I'm sorry this one took me so long. If I'm being honest, I had a pretty rough year. There were a lot of outside stressors that inhibited my ability to dedicate free time to this, along with some practical problems such as adapting to my newfound hearing loss. However, your support allowed me to feel like I could make sure this clip was not rushed, and I think it came out a lot better because of it. I actually wound up doing two near full edits of this clip, and scrapping the first one entirely and starting over. If I had been rushing, I'm sure I probably would have just released the first one and regretted it.

This is the first clip I've finished since upgrading my camera, and I think while there's going to be a learning curve, I am fairly happy with the quality. However, that also comes with its own setbacks, in terms of things taking much longer to edit and render.

As always, I wrote about some of the positives and negatives in reflecting on the clip at the bottom.

Syra Wolf stumbles upon a group of tiny women their partner has been hiding underneath the night stand. Shocked and appalled by the troubling revelation, Syra disposes of the tiny women one by one amidst a tense conversation.

Self-Reflection...

The positives:

- Overall third person picture quality.

- I really love the way Syra uses their eyes in this clip. While I tried to incorporate as many as I could, there were actually a ton of those shots left on the cutting room floor that didn't work within the flow of the video.

- I think I've upgraded my text animations. This new technique feels a lot cleaner.

- Outside of a few moments here and there, I think the sound is pretty okay.

Self-critiques:

- On a practical level, I wish I found a way to extend this clip a little bit longer.

- I am really unhappy with a lot of the POV stuff I've had to settle for, in terms of picture quality. The original cut of this video had no POV shots for this reason, but it wasn't hitting hard enough, so I went back and re-edited the clip with whatever I could salvage from the GoPro. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to utilize the Laowa in a way that feels satisfactory for POVs yet either.
