you guys should definitely do the documentary that's coming out on Disney+ for them, it's so good

Taylor

Im so excited you all are FINALLY DOING SVT!!! This is gonna be SO FUN

Meg DiRuggiero

Initially they were going to be 17 members, the youngest being a 02 liner. I think Sammy would have been 11 or 12 at debut making him the youngest idol next to the Boy Story members in China.

Pepper

That “Take me to the King” takes me every single time 😭😂😭😂

Idkmybffki

There’s something about the Tism and seventeen- my daughter is on the spectrum OBSESSED with don’t wanna cry and just sings the chorus on repeat 😂 I’m not even a carat

Jody

himbology is a presence and state of mind

Boys Love Boys Love

I'd really like to know how exactly you got the impression that Mingyu is a himbo, or what exactly your definition of himbo is. Like I thought himbos had to be Legitimately Stupid? Because girls. That man is Actually SO Smart. And I'm not even a Mingyu bias (it's Seungkwan for me in a deeply platonical way), it's literally just a fact that's been demonstrated over and over and over that this man is Intelligent AF.

Luthien

Ugh, I adore Seventeen and everything about them. S.Coups ULT over here. What a man.

I_KPOP_Fan (Ry_Noona)

my nephew is autistic and verbalizes the most with music, and stems the most through music, and he asks to listen to Auju Nice at least three times a week and we'll relisten to it probably twenty to thirty times in a row.

Auburn

Yeah Pledis was pretty broke by the time Seventeen debuted. They literally had $5 and a dream with that debut MV. If I remember correctly, Pledis did initially planned Seventten to be a 17 membered group but that plan seemed to have been scrapped at some point. It's also a commonly spread misinformation that Seventeen used to have 17 members but some left before debut, that also isn't entirely true. Seventeen's predebut line up did change several times, they were introduced in late 2012 on their own show 17tv (it was mostly live streamed practice room shenanigans) at the time there was 11 guys in the line up. Then throughout 2013-2014, more guys were added and some left. But throughout the entire predebut period, Seventeen's line up never had 17 guys at once. Coincidenly they ended up with 4 guys who were part of the line up at one point or another but not at the same time, which is probably where the misinformation stemmed from. Anyways, can't wait for you to discover more of Seventeen's lore throughout the month! Theres ALOT.

Secretninja312 (Tina)

Soo. Just so you know. When the adore you started playing i LITERALLY STARTED CRYING. You guys can't imagine the wave of nostalgia that hit me my god. Seventeen was the group that got me into kpop and i was there since the start. But i kind of got busy with adult life in 2018 so now I'm not a stan stan because i kind of got lost behind a bit. But rn with you reacting to them from the beginning i feel like it got me in touch with my inner child my god. I didn't even vote for botm. I can't wait to go down memory lane with you!. I just got transported to my teen years💗💗

Apolodor

Fun fact. Mingyu was supposed to be Dokyeom but he decided to go by his real name so then DK took that name and Minghao took DK‘s name which was D8(I believe it’s a reference to a Chinese tale about dragon lights I’m not sure) which I guess turned into the 8. Full transparency this could all be wrong though because they lie and they told this story and I could just be getting gaslit. Also, it is important to know that Mingyu is father of the house of himbo but Minho from shinee is grandfather of that house and intak is his son… thanks for coming to my ted talk

Yemidotcom

Fun fact Keita and Woozi are the same height

Greta🍊

honestly i’m so excited to revisit my beloved DK through the eras 🥹 I’ll probably cry once we get to Ready To Love, I also haven’t checked anything from the last two years because Super kind of pissed me off so it’ll be nice to watch with you !

sharon

iirc the choreo for pretty u was finished super last minute, that's why it's not in the MV, they hadn't made it (or at least finished it) at the time of shooting. and then in the end since the choreo is so iconic almost nobody watches the MV anyway (the views are super low compared to other MVs) lol

wick 🕯️

Oh i remember the disappointed look on my friend’s face when I told her I finally memorized all 13 member’s names and I can tell them apart now lol. Cuz i always forget her bday lol) but oh this is just nostalgia here. I went back and watched these videos when i got into them back in 2018 i think and during the Mansae era i had the biggest crush on S.Coups. Now? DK’s voice and comedic being got me all the way.

박 사 랑

mingyu may seem like a himbo but you guys ain't ready for The Real one I clocked that immediately years ago and he has yet to prove me wrong (not dropping names for now until you guys get it 🤭)

Semi

Could we watch a performance version of each title track too? It would be a lot but their dancing is what makes svt so iconic!! Pretty U w/o choreo felt so strange 😭

MC

Based on my Very Scientific evaluation (from him standing a metre away from me on the stairs in the Inkigayo studio), there is absolutely no way Woozi is actually 5'5". There is definitely a generous Kpop boost of an inch or two there. I absolutely adore him. Hoshi used to be my ultimate bias but now Woozi is firmly in the top spot. My sturdy little introvert, a cat loving musical genius. Genuinely wept when I found out that he got a tattoo tribute to his cat who passed away. He's just the best.

bananabel

This is true, he lipsyncs to Seungkwan in the video/earlier stages. But started singing himself once he gained confidence!

bananabel

Excited for you to find out who the *real* himbos in Seventeen are, cause it sure ain't Mingyu ;)

bananabel

Imo, from debut to 2018 was ✨PEAK✨ Seventeen, then in 2019 the total game changer that was Hit/Fear era happened and blew every Carats minds. For me, I started stanning during the iconic Don't Wanna Cry era so hearing you guys STARTED from 2020 and onwards is so wild for me 😅

rockthekazb0t

no, you can call them any nicknames you want 😂 i also sometimes call him scoops or cheol. and i call jeonghan a menace!! loml <3 lol anything is not a big deal actually! (as far as i experienced for 7 years of stanning them) carats are nice and chill

jeonghanluver

Not a Kotex commercial!

Lisa M T

Fun fact that you didn't ask for: Jeonghan is lipsyncing all his lines in Adore U because it's actually Seungkwan singing in the MV

Jesse 😼

as a scoups ult, go ahead and call him scoops lol no one cares

jas

my time has come! im so happy thank you for reacting to seventeen 🩷🩵

jeonghanluver

Not “this looks like a kotex commercial” 😭😭😭😭

Kat

Woozi our short king yesssssss he srsly deserves so much praise for creating the svt sound and cranking out hits. Their early stuff is so fun and feels unique. And these old mvs are so fun. I mean there’s a reason why audition shows and rookies still do these songs, timeless

Kat

Thank you for the yearly reminder to watch the Love Letter music video and cry a little (read: a lot) ;_;

Stephanie C

They are serotonin! A true definition of Kpop.

Aerial

oh my god.... i got into kpop around when they debuted and i haven't watched these videos in YEARS.... this is so nostalgic

aerifia

Also famously AfterSchool (seungkwan's mothers) basically built Pledis from the ground up and then svt were kinda the ones to get them out of debt once they blew up. Even in their debut era they were really famous for a large, non-big 3 boy group that had a bright concept in the sea of hip hop. My little trailblazers <3

Alissa

famoulsy no one has ever seen the pretty u music video bcs the performance video is THAT iconic bcs it's giving theater. i think i saw it for the first time maybe 2 years of being into svt

Maeva

People don't give svt enough credit for having one of the best debuts of all time song wise

Alissa

the post was a reddit ask from someone wanting to know what song they heard on an edit and their description went "They say 'NICE!' like every five seconds with clown/circus noises in between, then it goes 'carrot carrot carrot'"

sun ☀️

isn't it true that Jeonghan wasn't singing in adore u? (i never fact checked this but i'm pretty sure)

Maeva

the jeonghan hair IS crazy but it was pledis tradition at this point lol. look up ren in early nu'est stuff he was serving l'oreal commercial

Tina Oestreich

Adam and RJ reacting like this to Seventeens debut hair styling tells me they’re not ready for shinee lucifer and Sherlock 😅😂

Sarah

Carats don't really mind scoups as long as it's clear the person knows thats not actually his name - or coups which a lot of us call him, as members have been calling him that (Coups Hyung) for years!

Ally

I got into kpop with Mansae when it came out, so this is verrrrryy fun for me

Jasmin💙

That’s it EXACTLY

Boys Love Boys Love

adore u vernon hair is very kelly from dance moms coded

Viv

I call him Scoops too.

Jen T.

so excited for this month !!! i hope u guys end up watching their killing voice at some point, i just know adam will go crazy over dk!

treasurejjong

The interesting thing about 97 line is that they essentially swapped stage names and fanchant orders between them! "Dokyeom" was initially supposed to be Mingyu's stage name, not Seokmin's. And DK is the oldest out of the three of them, but he swapped places with Minghao so that Minghao would be #8 in the fanchants which go by the age order. Also I feel like this is probably part of your existing carat knowledge haha but the 17 logo is indeed meant to also represent a diamond as well as being the number. In addition to the fact that one of the earliest songs they wrote and performed as OT13 (prior to debut even) was Shining Diamond [on their first album, 17 Carat], the age lines also add up to a diamond (three 95 line, four 96 line, three 97 line, two 98 line and Dino!) which I've always found to be such a crazy fact! If they had kept the predebut lineup with the four guys from over the 17TV livestreams who could reasonably have also been a part of the group, that wouldn't have happened.

Layla123

ALSO Hoshi's stage name is actually from 호랑이 시선 (horangi shiseon) which means "tiger's gaze"! You take the first syllable from each word to make 호시 and it refers to his fierce eyes especially when he is performing on stage. DK is short for 도겸 (Dokyeom) with “Do” meaning “a path or road” and “Kyeom” meaning “multitasker” as someone who will go down the path of being a multi-talented artist. Fun fact, he was originally going to have The8 as his stage name and Mingyu was supposed to be Dokyeom 🤓

Emily L.

the stylists had beef with vernon and dino

PopArtist8512

oh i def call him scoops lol

._.Sage._.

and for Hoshi, it's a shortening of 호랑이의 시선, which means like tiger gaze, tiger eyes, that sort of thing - because of how fierce he is on stage. I think Han Sung Soo, the Pledis CEO, came up with it. Hoshi didn't like it at first but now he's obsessed with tigers because of it, so it worked out (?) I realize that I am going to be that person that responds to all of your questions; I apologize in advance.

megalesias

My biases start with the same reason, I like their voice which does tend to go to main vocals as I hear them the most. Initially was just Seungkwan biased bc my 17 yr old self could not afford to be buying merch for 2 members, but DK was always right there and yeah that rule changed in 2018... SO excited for this month bc SVT is my ult and I'm pretty sure I missed voting this month so a big THANK YOU to the carats who voted 🙏

Emily L.

we carats joke all the time that woozi saved pledis, they didn't even have money to get them in-ears at first, they would use earphones...

BV

i agree it’s so funny they think he gives himbo when he is literally seen as the brain most of the time. it’s so interesting to see what non-carat thinks😭😭

iman

re: DK, the lore is just that his real name is Lee Seokmin, and his stage name is Dokyeom. He started using DK as a nickname/shortened version of Dokyeom when they started getting bigger internationally. So now DK and Dokyeom are pretty interchangeable, but they're both his stage name.

megalesias

It’s so funny that adam used to have carat in his twitter bio before and both him and rj thinks mingyu is a himbo when he’s literally one of the most booksmart members and definitely the most streetsmart member of seventeen huhu i’m excited for you guys to know KNOW him

NAME

to think that very nice did not get a single win when it came out. truly for the arts not the charts.

Helle

I am going to enjoy this month sm dkdkdb

HodylovesZB1🌹

One the first reacts to adore u was Vanner's cover on peaktime that made everyone cry 🥲 but yes DK got me here with my 12 other biaswreckers

Carmen Elias

Obsessed with their commitment to not only be good musical artists but also silly goofy boys. Last tour, my brother got to sing Aju Nice with Seungkwan in San Antonio. It was INCREDIBLE.

Maritza Islas

I think like half of carats call s.coups scoops dw we don't care lol

FroggyMuds

Oh to have long hair Jeonghan again 🤧💓

Pinkemena

For me it was Wonwoo and Mingyu I got mixed up at first, so much so I called one of them the other when I went to the concert 😭

Jesse 😼

i'm so happy you guys are delving into THEE theatre kids of kpop

lauren

I can make any number turn into any other number 💀

Jesse 😼
