One of the things I'm working on!
Some of you may remember this ref I did a while back. I was also commissioned for a second ref, to show off another form this character can take! Having a lot of fun so far.
Up top are the lines. I've struggled a lot with doing more traditional lineart in the past... It's hard on my hands, and fiddly in a way that just tends to frustrate me. This time, though, I've changed brushes, allowed myself to be a little bit looser, and that's done a lot of good. Not quite something I want to do all the time, but a cool change of pace!
I've had people ask about what brushes I use quite a bit. Maybe I'll make a post about that at some point, but for now I can say that I use a lot of DAUB brushes, which can be found here. In general, I've been liking sketching with the Greasil and others from the Pencils pack, which his actually free! For this piece in particular, though, I actually did the majority of the inks with the brushes in this pack! I really enjoy how they feel.
I did a couple of different markings for this guy, since a new form needed some adaptation. Below are the colors that the client eventually chose, but I've attached two other attempts to this post! One is kind of tame, the second a little more adventurous - I'm glad he chose this one, the most ambitious of the three, and my personal favorite :)

This makes me really want a snake character, haha.
Hoping to have this done pretty soon! Can't wait to share the finished sheet.
