Another piece from my queue! This time Nyghtwulf's Kyr has gotten hirself a catsuit, a corset, and a few other accessories!

Earlier this month, I purchased a small screen tablet, the XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro, just to try one out, and I did the beginning of this sketch on it. I actually enjoyed it a lot, even more than I thought I would! So much so that I sent it back, haha. I want to go full-investment and get a Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 instead, either in April or May. I need to get a new graphics card first, though - I had some lag even with the smaller one I tested, which is a fate worse than death.

I really don't know how to describe working on a screen tablet! I've always just had my Intuos 4, which doesn't have a screen, and unlike a lot of people, I really never did traditional drawing for long, so I have very, very little experience drawing "directly on" my art. I kind of love it though. I felt a lot more productive, and it made me feel a lot more connected to what I was doing. The tools don't make the artist, but having nice tools certainly makes art a lot of fun.

Also, having a screen tablet is a gateway drug to drawing lots of hair and miscellaneous details. I added a bunch of extra stuff to this sketch just because it was so relaxing.

As a fun bonus, here's an earlier screenshot of it.

Which also lets you see how absurdly minimal I like my layout to be. This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately as well; the default layout for CSP has a lot of, just.... stuff.... everywhere. So many menus and palettes and windows and-- I really can't stand it, haha. I want as little getting in the way as possible, and I use a ton of custom keybinds to let me do as much as possible without bringing up a menu. Most recently, I spent 20 minutes setting up shortcuts for layer opacity in increments of 10%, so I never have to go reach for the little slider in my layer palette again.

Skott said that this looks a lot different than my usual art, and I definitely feel that. I don't know how to describe it, but the screen tablet did something to my art, and it feels great.

Can't wait til I can play with one again.
