The Nervous Cow
Added 2019-08-12 18:56:48 +0000 UTCThis is just a fun little drawing I did for my friend, Corny Eel! She visited Namiin and I last week, and I decided to do this for her since it's technically a super old commission that I needed to make good on. It was very cool having her watch!
This is Akatarou. I believe he's based on the legend of the Akabeko, a red cow that's believed to protect from illness. He goes around letting people pat his head in the hopes that it'll bless and protect them.
Eel and I joked that this village seems to be well known for its beef haha.
I had a very interesting experience drawing this. I haven't drawn a human in a long long time, so while I felt confident that it looked okay, I also couldn't... see it...? It was almost like face blindness (which I've heard of, but don't experience) I knew it was my art, I knew it was an okay human face, but I, myself, couldn't recognize it as either of those. I still don't! It's like I have no idea what I'm looking at, in the most bizarre way.
That said, yes, he's supposed to have that cow nose LOL
