Weekly update – Ships, Combat and Ship Combat

Hi everyone,

I have a few days off this week so I’m hoping to make a lot of progress on Chapter 2.5. The main focus for me right now are some basic changes to the way combat is implemented in the game, which would allow me to have more different and unique combat interactions in the future. I came to the conclusion that this is needed because I wanted to add a new mechanic for Chapter 2.5 that would be fun – Ship Combat.Since the next version will take part on some pirate islands, it only makes sense to have epic ship battles with pirate crews clashing with each other and sea monsters.

As you all know, the combat mechanism right now is pretty static and somehow combat encounters feel rather same-y with slightly different stats. So I’m taking the ship combat of Chapter 2.5 as a starting point to create more options and to be a little more creative with the combat system as a whole. Also, this includes some new research and other things related to ships. You’ll be able to step by step upgrade your main ship from a small vessel to an impressive and mighty battleship.

I’m of course still working on the main story of Chapter 2.5 and on new images. I′m also trying to get another set of new tile images done, but I’m currently not sure when they’ll be ready.
