Three Square Meals Ch. 174 (Placeholder)
Added 2024-06-01 03:44:41 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
Chapter 169 took ages to write because it's all combat. As well as being more challenging to write, the combat scenes need to happen in a very specific sequence, so it all takes me much longer and is a lot more complicated.
When chapter 169 is finally wrapped up, it'll be plain sailing for a while, as we tie up some of the loose ends in the story. This should finally give me a chance to clear the backlog and get up to date.
Apologies again for creating another placeholder. I know some of you really hate it, and I understand why. I promise that I'll keep writing them though, so you will get all the chapters you're due eventually.
More than anything I want to get back to a place where I'm only charging as each chapter is completed.
Best wishes,
Tefler

2024-06-28 20:07:21 +0000 UTCPart of my problem is all drops are at the end of the month even when nearly completed chapters are days away. Gallstones don’t follow a monthly schedule but bills do. Revisions don’t bother fans nearly as much as not being close to self proclaimed deadlines. A five second update is less time than those of us that want to support you spend looking for updates. For such a great communicator, Tef is a lousy communicator.

2024-06-26 21:54:50 +0000 UTCProgenitor Chronicles #250 Star Date: 6745.06.26 Day Fifty-Eight in the Nexus Nebula Greetings, faithful patrons and patient readers. As the stars align to mark another month gone by, it seems appropriate to address the rather persistent question on everyone’s mind: Where, oh where, is Chapter 169? Ah, the saga continues. The Gallstone Gambit First and foremost, let us address the gallstone in the room. Yes, gallstones. The little pebbles that have been my constant companions. Some might argue they have overstayed their welcome, and I would concur. Contrary to popular belief, gallstones are not an elaborate ruse but a persistent annoyance that occasionally feel like having a tiny black hole lodged in your kidney. Dietary Delusions I've heard the whispers: “Gallstones are dietary. Change your diet and they’ll clear up in weeks.” If only the universe operated on such simplicity. Alas, despite the best homeopathic remedies and gallons of herbal teas, these stones seem to have a personal vendetta. Gallstones: A Convenient Scapegoat? Then there’s the murmuring in the void: “I’m pretty sure gallstones have been his excuse for over two years now.” Well, not to correct anyone's stellar navigation, but gallstones are but one of the many cosmic hiccups in this writer's journey. The truth is, my life’s trajectory has been peppered with more plot twists than the manuscript of Chapter 169 itself. The Real Culprits So, what else could possibly be contributing to these delays? Let’s unravel this tangled mess of excuses: Quantum Flux Complications: My spacecraft has recently developed an unhealthy interest in quantum mechanics, resulting in unpredictable fluctuations and the occasional black hole appearing in my study. Repairing these spatial anomalies takes time, effort, and more than a few panicked phone calls to tech support. The Holo-Sheep Uprising: Those ethereal sheep have grown bolder. They’ve taken to chewing on my manuscripts and interfering with the life support systems. It’s hard to write when you're constantly herding holographic livestock away from critical systems. Financial Misadventures: While it might seem perplexing to some, managing the generous influx from 7,500 patrons at $2 each is not as straightforward as one might assume. Space taxes, unexpected spaceship repairs, and the occasional bribe to interstellar customs officials all add up. Medical Mishaps: Beyond the gallstones, a recent bout of zero-gravity flu left me bedridden. Apparently, floating around with a high fever isn't conducive to coherent writing. Writer’s Block Comet: This notorious comet made its pass through our sector, leaving behind a trail of creative paralysis. Even the best of us can fall prey to its influence, resulting in hours of staring blankly at the screen. Looking Forward Rest assured, dear readers, Chapter 169 is not lost in the abyss. It’s slowly but surely taking shape, each sentence crafted with the care and precision of a Progenitor’s artifact. Your patience and support are the warp drives that keep this journey going, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

2024-06-26 19:08:53 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure that gallstones has been his excuse for over two years now, not just 6 months.
Rev. Thwack
2024-06-26 18:21:29 +0000 UTCGallstones are dietary. A change in diet and homeopathic remedies clears those up in weeks, not months, let alone years. You’re right though: there’s definitely more to these delays than the excuses we’ve been offered.

At a chapter s as month, we’re 6 months behind. There’s less than a week left in June - 2 months left in Summer. Does this mean we’ll finally get multiple chapters in a month any time soon? Just asking… As a copyright/tech/marketing writer, I’ve had to knock out 30-page proposals with market research, strategy, graphics and relevant aesthetics overnight for a fraction of what Tefler is getting for each chapter. 2024-06-19 11:34:54 +0000 UTCJohns harem are intimately connected with him, as much or even moreso than a typical matriarch, in Alyssa’s case. The Ghalkirans don’t share that type of connection outside of their matriarch. It seems like they have a one-way connection to their progenitor. He can siphon their psychic energy via their Matriarch, but there is no emotional connection to bind them to him after that, it seems. I do find the possibility that John’s father could lay claim to them a rather intriguing possibility, as that was his former empire. With them both being committed to the revenge of the Kyth’faren, with multiple thrall armadas at their command, a team-up against future progenitors would massively expedite the overthrow of Xar’s Progenitor empire game.

2024-06-12 14:04:04 +0000 UTCTom Ray has an entirely justified point. Charging per piece of work delivered and then charging for a placeholder in lieu of work is explicitly against Patreon's rules. Every time it's done it's a violation. Even charging per month and ghosting supporters for several months is pushing it, but at least then there isn't an explicit promise of work being done within a month (although a month going by with not even an update or communication is something that can be reported to Patreon as an abandoned account that is still charging Patrons, which is a violation).

2024-06-09 15:21:22 +0000 UTCI’m a writer of short stories and an admirer of Tefler’s work. A habit of mine is to invent dialog in my mind as a method of getting to sleep at night. While waiting for the story to continue, I’ve been doing just that, imagining what happens after Gahl’kalgor is dead – killed by a combination of John, reenforced by a blast of psychic energy from the recently awakened Edraele, Alyssa’s blade-storm and Sakura’s skills. In my version, the Galkiran Dreadnaught’s systems have been hacked and all functions are in control of our heroes. Alyssa is speaking to the Bridge crew. After she assures the Matriarch, Fleet Commander and Captain that they will not be killed, she connects to screens on all the other thrall ships and gives them the same news. “Hello ladies. My name is Alyssa, Matriarch to Baen’thelas, who has just defeated Gahl’kalgor. I understand that normally, when one Progenitor defeats another, the defeated Progenitor’s thralls are slaughtered or simply left to die. That will not happen this time. You may have noticed that we merely disabled your ships,” said Alyssa. “We could have just as easily blown your power cores or blasted holes in your hulls, decompressing your ships. We didn’t do that because until today, you have lived your lives as thralls, unwilling slaves to a Progenitor who cared nothing for you.” Alyssa sat back in her Command Chair and smiled. “As of this moment, you are free women. As soon as we can get to you, we will transport you to a planet near here where you will be able to live out you lives in peace. The planet was occupied until a few centuries ago and still has fine buildings and power and clean water. Please bring with you whatever supplies you may need until we can get food production operating. That will probably take a few weeks.” And so on. It usually doesn’t take much more before I fall asleep.

2024-06-08 16:54:27 +0000 UTCSome of us on Discord speculate that Tefler had to set up the right situation to merge Athena with Alyssa. Greg Hill
2024-06-06 15:19:27 +0000 UTCThe nova lance blast wouldn't have worked. Alyssa's nova lance burned up a significant chunk of their network's psychic energy to get through the progenitor shuttle. Gal's personal armor would be higher-quality and it's supersized, so it's likely tougher than the ship's plating. Gal can also heal himself ridiculously quickly. He went from being stabbed in the chest with his insides frozen to blocking John's accelerated attack, knocking out Sakura, and healing himself in just a few seconds. Vaporizing a hole through his chest would annoy him, but in a couple seconds he would be fully healed. The helmet is worse because he can just duck. It took a couple seconds to burn through the shuttle after all. Any attack that doesn’t instantly kill him will be a huge (and possibly fatal) waste of energy. There is a small chance of success if she instakills Gal by vaporizing his head, but she would have to fully commit to the attack. If she runs out of energy, or takes more than a couple seconds, or he ducks, or he somehow survives, everyone dies. Targeting his hand doesn't have any of those drawbacks. Alyssa just needed to distract Gal and spoil his attack.
Tldr
2024-06-05 02:25:54 +0000 UTCShe saw that Gahl'kalgor was about to strike a killing blow with his hand which had a dark psychic aura built up around it and decided to hit that at the last second. The reason his arm was blown off was because her white beam reacted to the dark aura around his hand and exploded, amplifying her attack. No guarantee that she would have killed Gahl'kalgor with a head shot. That is my guess anyway.

2024-06-04 21:40:57 +0000 UTCI kind of understood why Sakura stabbed GK twice in the chest, so she could use her abilities to try to freeze and incapacitate him while John did the coup de grace. But what I don’t get is why Alyssa turned at the last minute with her nova lance burst and only hit GK in the hand instead of the middle of the torso, or if her aim was good enough to hit his hand, why not his head? Not criticizing, I love your writing and the story!!! But I’ve read the story quite a few times, and every time I’ve wondered. The only thing I keep coming up with is John actually HAS to be the person that kills him one on one, is that the case? Did I miss that in the story somewhere?Anyway, I hope you heal up and feel better, I’m eagerly waiting for the battles conclusion and the story, hopefully continuing for a long while. This is problematic as you have completed only 4 chapters in the last calendar year and 8 in the last 18 months. 2024-06-03 21:17:25 +0000 UTCTef Writer's Log: John's Progenitor Chronicles #207 Star Date: 6745.06.01 Day Thirty-Two in the Nexus Nebula Today, amidst the seemingly endless cycle of tomorrows, I received an intriguing request from my most loyal readers. They asked for a story that delves deep into our collective past, binding us in a reluctant journey through shadows—a tale of reluctant unity against a backdrop of overwhelming negativity. But first, I must announce that Chapter 168 is finally complete. To celebrate, I've secured two more bags of money for future chapters. And so, the cycle continues. A Dark Premise: The next story idea came as a whisper in the void—a group of people trapped in ancient ruins, drawn together by shared discontent. This place, an eerie relic of a bygone era, echoes with the collective sorrow of its past inhabitants. Our characters, bound not by choice but by circumstance, form an anti-cult of negativity, where complaints are taboo, and silent suffering binds them together. Unveiling the Protagonist: Elara, an archaeologist, leads the group in search of a legendary artifact rumored to alter reality. Alongside her are historians, scientists, and accidental travelers, each burdened with their own regrets. As they delve deeper into the ruins, an oppressive atmosphere heightens their despair, but also forges unexpected bonds. The Anti-Cult and Resilience: The ruins are haunted by memories of an ancient civilization's endless strife, seeping into the group's minds. The anti-cult forms naturally, a silent support group confronting their internal demons. Elara's optimism encourages them to share their stories, slowly unearthing not only the ruins' history but also their personal histories. Together, they find strength in collective resilience. Artifact's Revelation and New Beginning: The legendary artifact is revealed to be a mirror reflecting their deepest fears and regrets. Confronting these reflections becomes cathartic, allowing the group to let go of negativity and find a path forward. The ruins' grip loosens as they reclaim their agency. Emerging from the ruins, stronger and more hopeful, they part ways with a newfound understanding of themselves and each other. As I pen these words, I reflect on my own journey through procrastination and cosmic misadventures. With Chapter 168 finally released and two more bags of money in hand, a new story takes shape. Perhaps, like Elara and her companions, we can find strength in shared experiences and look forward to the promise of tomorrow—ever elusive, yet always on the horizon. Here's to the next chapter and the many tomorrows it will bring.

2024-06-03 21:13:22 +0000 UTCis it more, but the end of 168 doesnt tie in with the start of 169 ?

2024-06-03 13:12:18 +0000 UTCTelfer you stated in your previous update (chapter 168 release) that you held off posting the end of Chapter 168 until you were happy with Chapter 169. Which implies at the very least that 169 should have been mostly completed. This release of an abbreviated 169 is a major disappointment. The only thing consistent about you is your tendency to over promise and under deliver. Now with underwhelming results, as you no longer even submit full chapters.

2024-06-02 23:37:32 +0000 UTCI'm sorry, but 5 chapters in place-holder status? Besides the fact it's against Patreon policy, no on gets paid that much for not turning in something. I honestly can't see supporting you anymore until you get caught up.

2024-06-02 18:53:17 +0000 UTCJust some quick cumulative math for everyone saying "it is just $1 or $2 a month." Last month, Tef dropped two placeholders and drew himself an $14,000+ paycheck. This month, he drew another $14,000 "to keep his lights on." He is currently 5 chapters deep in placeholders, meaning he has been paid $35,000 for work he has not completed. I make about 33% of that a month and can quite comfortably keep my lights on. Health problems suck and I wish him a full recovery, but good f**cking lord, learn how to budget!

2024-06-02 11:03:35 +0000 UTCThat's probably the most frustrating thing about this situation. Tefler is sitting on top of something that is almost like lightning in a bottle, and he could turn this into something really, really big. His world-building is great, he is obviously putting in serious work toward managing multiple long-term plot lines, the world he has created spans the physical, digital and the metaphysical. His character-building is really good. I like his primary plot device but I don't read his stories just for that and I think he has incredible potential as much more than just an erotic-fiction writer. It feels like self-sabotage. ETA: BTW, I deleted my previous comment, felt like maybe I should have counted to 10 first, lol, but still kind of peeved.

2024-06-01 22:33:22 +0000 UTCIma join this rant.. Tef, I am sorry for your health issues, beyond my control, it's great story, all be it, a slow one. I am sure you could care less what many of your readers have to say about it, and that is ok, BUT.... Life happens to all of us, you made a promise, you need to stand behind it. yes, I get it, health issues suck, BUT a promise is a promise. I doubt you read these comments, must be nice to have so many sheep paying you. Have you ever thought that a simple engagement of your readership might be worth your effort? We all love a great story, but your apathy to be frank sucks! I wish I could write a story like this, but eye just do not have the patience or the time to develop the skills to make fools of the readership. I hand it you, you made one hell of a story about a guy and his balls, now if you please a small amount of consideration for those of us who actually pay to read this..... Give us the respect to at least respond, if the pain is too much, engage the readership, one on one, fight through it, put folks like me in their place.... anger helps to fight pain.. It's a good gig, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! quit fucking it up. K

2024-06-01 21:19:11 +0000 UTC--- Poor Tef is stuck with the UK's Healthcare System and has yet to have even an older style of operation to remove his stricken Gallbladder, ... he is still having recurring pain and troubles until the UK healthcare system can get back to his gallstones, ... And yet he is still writing our story (Yay!), .... Just hang in there, both to Tef and to all of us fans, things will get better, ... ;-) ttfn

2024-06-01 20:52:33 +0000 UTCIf you have an ereader you can use Calibre and the FanFicFare plugin to download everything on Literotica in one pass just by providing the link to the first chapter. Will save you a BUNCH of initial work (first 145 chapters). I did have to manually convert and add the docx files to the ereader file after Chapter 145.

2024-06-01 19:20:24 +0000 UTCWill a mere 60 chapters suffice to clean up the rest of the Progenitors - and don't forget rescue at least one other nymph, sort out the Abandoned, the Kintark and those misbegotten earthlings, plus sire enumerable kids? Nah. Sixty ain't nearly enough. I'm here for the long long haul. At least 2038.

2024-06-01 19:10:52 +0000 UTCYou know, I grow more tired of the complaints than the slow stories. Maybe the next story that Tefler writes about is a search through our collective past that makes us stay in a place where we don’t want to be, makes us join up together in some kind of anti-cult following of negativity. No complaints and been here since the beginning.

2024-06-01 15:50:54 +0000 UTCI’m sorry you’re not feeling well. Obviously we don’t know exactly what’s wrong with your gall bladder but apparently it’s pretty bad if you can barely write. It’s been a year. Stop hoping the problem will go away. Stop waiting for the NHS. Take command and get rid of your gall bladder. You’ll have to stop eating fish and chips. Get over it. Yes I’m frustrated by the slow pace of chapters. What’s really frustrating me is that you don’t seem to be frustrated that your life is being destroyed by what is almost always a minor medical issue. Fix the problem for your sake, not ours.

2024-06-01 11:29:38 +0000 UTCNope, bye. I thought maybe things are changing, but looks like not. I'll sub once a year to collect the 5 chapters made, good value for 1.50. Every chapter now feels shittier because it feels like it was owed to me a long time ago. Honestly, i dont understand how a person can be so irresponsible with an 8k a month job. And i do hope a LOT of people unsub this time to bring the total monthly down to like 4k. Call it a yearly performance review.

2024-06-01 09:54:16 +0000 UTCI don't think that's fair to say. Look, it's up to all of us to manage our support in a way that makes sense to us as individuals, but I can't fault those who feel like they're being used as a piggy bank against their will. I support a lot of writers and artists across several platforms - Tefler is the only one that does anything like this. Placeholders aren't ethical in my opinion, and I've limited my monthly donation amount accordingly. But I appreciate the stories and do want them to continue.

2024-06-01 07:27:32 +0000 UTChave Tefler considered to charge differently for combat chapters by making them half length of normal ones to make up for the extra workload? or have this been surgested before and been rejected?
JiRuAn
2024-06-01 07:07:21 +0000 UTCI feel the need to point out patreon openly shows how much they make per chapter at around 8k per chapter I'm not sure why they feel the need to do these placeholders, 8k a month is 96k a year. That's well over double the median income in the USA. Yet they want to charge double that every month?

2024-06-01 06:15:23 +0000 UTCI would suggest flying to Mexico, crossing the border illegally, apply for asylum and have your gall stones treated at one of the great hospitals in Southern California. No waiting for NHS. Then pick up your passport and fly back to the UK!

2024-06-01 05:07:42 +0000 UTCMay I make a request? The archive of .docx files on Patreon doesn't go all the way back to chapter 1. Perhaps when you make placeholders, you could include files for some of the old chapters with them? That seems like it would be providing something of immediate value along with the placeholders that doesn't require much effort on your part. I personally am happy to consider this an "I contribute monthly and get chapters as they come" sort of investment, but I would like to have a complete set of chapter files, and it might help other people feel better about what they're getting.

2024-06-01 05:06:28 +0000 UTCI really enjoy your writing, it’s exciting, and very in depth. I understand it’s totally a creative process, and I’m sure it’s extremely challenging. 2024-06-01 04:40:28 +0000 UTCI am certain that everyone is in different situations (and can contribute as such). However, there are so many authors whose writing I miss -- Lazlo Zalezac, Dark Pen, Vanessa Ravencroft, Jay Cantrell, all authors who either have chosen not to write anymore, or cannot not. But their stories were moving and helped me through difficult times. I only wish I could have contributed to them more substantially. I can only try to support Tefler, in the old sense of being a patron of the arts. Is it frustrating sometimes? Sure. But that just makes what he writes all the better.

2024-06-01 04:39:08 +0000 UTCWe are now 5+ chapters back...170, 171, 172, 173, 174 + whatever is left of 169... judging by the size compared to the past few, seems like it's about 2/3rds short of a full chapter....so 5.75 behind??? Sheesh...Must be nice to be able to do that...

2024-06-01 04:06:21 +0000 UTCSo now we are 4 placeholders ahead. This is ridiculous!!! A half story and 2 more placeholders? So now it’s it 4 months in advance payment. I guess 5 months since we only have a half new story. He puts himself in a deeper and deeper hole of getting paid ahead of time for no work released. The same old medical stories. I gall my gall bladder removed many years ago now. I didn’t work for 3 weeks after. Then again my job was pretty labor intensive. I could have written anything sitting on my butt most of those 3 weeks. I had 10 gall stones, pea size. I was in a lot of pain, still working, finally went to the emergency room, where I was operated on pretty quickly, that same day. Then 4 days in the hospital. So I have experience. Yet this gall bladder excuses is going on for months. Here is an idea, release a new chapter every 2 weeks and get caught back up. Stop this placeholders b.s. that you said you would stop doing. Instead it’s worse than ever. People keep making excuses for this.

2024-06-01 03:58:10 +0000 UTCAnother oh here is a partial chapter I'm going to charge you for two full chapters though...... I could understand I can’t afford not being paid this month but double charging I'm out. I'll be back when the releases iv paid for are done
dakota downey
2024-06-01 03:57:38 +0000 UTCThat’s it. This is ridiculous. I’m Ffing done. I should have canceled/paused my patronage when you were “only” one payment in advance THREE years ago. Or when you charged for half chapters a year before that. Now, you’re charging for 5 chapters in advance? It’s ridiculous. I used to do $5 a submission for years. I think I started on like chapter 60 or so back in 2016. Since you started these shenanigans, I dropped to $2 and then to $1. You say this is all necessary because you need the money, but I think I literally paid you more in a single year before, than the 4 years you’ve pulled this crap. And for me, it’s not even about the money itself. It’s about the slap in the face that is deceptively charging at the last minute for an undelivered product, and then lying (both to us and to yourself) that this will be the last time and you’ll work on changing. It’s about the myriad of excessive excuses for why this month is different or this payment is needed or this time you’re extra sorry. It’s about going through this whole thing and then next month, it’s all the same, with seemingly no repentance or genuine acts of good faith. I’m sorry you have health issues, I hope you do heal. I’m sorry you have house issues, I hope everything is fixed. But you need to sit down and budget better. You need to organize and plan better. And finally, I think you’re well on your way to getting burnt out if not there already. You need to take breaks in a more effective fashion; work on other projects or go back and work on editing the books again. As for me, I’m finally fed up and cancelling today after 8ish years. I’ll check back again in a year or more, because I still love this story, I still love your writing, I still love the characters and setting and sexiness. I just can’t continue to condone this continued conduct.
