Star Trek TOS "Space Seed" Full Reaction!

Just working my way through the back catalogue now lol. I think the idea with the crew sitting silently while Khan had Kirk in the decompression chamber is that they were willing to basically go down with the ship. "We'd rather die than give you control of the ship, this huge weapon that you could do anything with and we know that's what the captain would want to. And you need us to run it, you can't kill us all." Spock honestly thought Kirk was dead until he walked around the corner but being a Vulcan the most he registered was mild surprise πŸ˜† Great reaction as always. If the next one is what I think it is I'm super fuckin' hyped. See you then πŸ––

Thank you for checking things out here! It's possible I will do more Star Trek stuff, but it depends on if Space Seed and/or Wrath of Khan take off in any way. To commit myself to such a long series without knowing if it will be successful is a bit scary. But I'd love to watch further, starting from the beginning :D

I joined your Patreon specifically for your Star Trek reactions. I thought the YT cut was very insightful and joined immediately. * I think the ship visual effects you're seeing is from the remastered version created in 2006. The idea was to make effects that looked like they were made in the 60s if they had the budget and technology to do so. * With very few exceptions, the episodes are all stand-alone. For the most part, you can see them out-of-order -- even between seasons.

To answer your question, Spock is half-Human half-Vulcan, but he favors his Vulcan side. Vulcans have superior strength and constitution over Humans, but also more extreme emotions than Humans that messed them up in the past, so now as a society have lots of rituals and techniques that hold their emotions in check and focusing entirely on logic. What happens when they can't control those emotions is a common plot device across several series. While TOS may not seem progressive by today's standards, Star Trek has always pushed boundaries. For example, Ohura, a black woman as a bridge officer, having several of the first interracial kisses on TV, was a big deal.
