2023-08-25 17:04:03 +0000 UTCMai has had a crush on Zuko since they were young children (hinted at when Ty Lee says "It will be interesting seeing Zuko again, WON'T it, Mai?" and also shown in a flashback during 2x7, "Zuko Alone", as Mai was sitting under a tree and blushing when Zuko and his mom approached). They never really develop it, so the kiss in 3x1 seems jarring to many people, but it's not completely out of the blue.
