I didn't hate it, but upon further reflection I can see why it would be disliked by people who were waiting 5 years to get this depressing movie. For me, marathoning the movies it was an interesting change of pace. But for this to be the last Rocky film for 16 years. Yeah I can see why it's hated.

2024-04-15 02:22:48 +0000 UTCRocky has to deal with Bernie Madoff and Don King. Tommy Gunn is played by an actual boxer for the first time in Rocky movies. I liked the addition of MMA to the boxing scenes. Shier, Stallone, and Meredith all have good scenes. Lots of family drama. Great to see the filmmakers approving a positive attitude. I like my boxers to be brooding, smouldering, compelling; Creed, Lang, Draco. Somehow that's missing in Rocky 5. I would watch it again for the acting and the scenery. Rocky i is criterion quality. The first sequel is good. 3 and 4 in that order are my favorites. The next Rocky, Rocky Balboa, is one of the best.
