That's a great point! It would have been awesome if Uhura was the one to talk down the computer. Kirk's already had his fair share of these moments. Ugh, the people who refuse to watch this due to it being animated are really just hurting themselves, here!

2025-03-02 15:57:24 +0000 UTCThe issue I have with this episode is, why did it require the combined efforts of Kirk and Spock to talk the Master Computer down? As a skilled communications officer, Uhura should have been able to do that herself; given the amount of time she spent talking to it, it would have made more sense if it had responded to her. I can't understand why so many Trek fans refuse to watch the various animated series. I just recently finished Prodigy and found it to be every bit as entertaining as any live-action Trek series (and more enjoyable than a few of them). I'm also a big fan of Lower Decks and wish it hadn't been cancelled. I suppose there are some people who simply can't get past the fact that the actors are heard and not seen. This is probably the one that people have the hardest time embracing, considering the primitive animation and somewhat simplistic backgrounds (I confess, the design of the underground complex in this episode annoyed me, and I usually don't mind this series' artistic limitations). But one would think the opportunity to hear most of the original cast members voicing their characters should have been reason enough to watch Star Trek (1973).

2025-03-01 19:16:03 +0000 UTCheh, I knew you'd love the Animated Series... FAN SERVICE ALL OVER THE PLACE. So...back in the day...(early '70s) cartoons were considered "for children." That's why those curmudgeons who won't watch the AS..won't watch it. For me... I was 7 years old... just pretty much becoming fully sentient. I was watching Star Trek TOS reruns... And I was so enjoying the Saturday morning cartoons of Star Trek. Oh... and check this out... So... In high school I was big into sports (football, basketball, trek... (oops I mean track)). And One day, I was hanging out with my fellow football teammates at one of my teammate's house... we were flipping through the TV looking for something to watch. And of course a rerun of Star Trek was on. And I was like OOOO yes Star Trek!!! They of course laughed, made fun... called me a "NERD" (being a nerd back then was not cool...not even close to cool... like 10 levels below uncool). So... I went to my 2nd High School reunion (circa 2002)... Saw a few of the same football teammates who were making fun of me because I wanted to watch Star Trek back in the day... They were going on about the last episode of Voyager... And I just folded my arms, stood there and gave them a look... took them a minute until they were like... "what??" And I'm like Oh... Star Trek Voyager eh??? Do you remember when mister nerd wanted to watch Star Trek Reruns??? We all had a big laugh.
