2025-11-27 01:18:35 +0000 UTCOn the subject of "what else isn't in the Bible". The Rapture is completely unbiblical. It is mentioned nowhere in The Book of Revelation, which is where you would expect to find it, and entirely based off of a misunderstanding of something Paul wrote in one of the epistles (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Interpretations of that verse, even among the most conservative scholars, disagree as to whether or not Paul was being literal or figurative there, and even if he was being literal, it is believed that that passage reflects a belief that the followers of God will gain the ability to fly in the end times, and it's clear in context that Paul is talking about "meeting The Lord in the air" on the way down. Like, during the Second Coming of Christ, Christians will meet Jesus in the air while he is on his way back down to earth, rather than just going up to heaven forever, which I think is what Rapture believers believe. The entirety of Rapture theology was just made up by Evangelicals like 200 years ago by blatantly misinterpreting this passage.
