Studying rope bondage 🪢🧐

Soooo, this is a little different from usual, but the next longer comic deals with rope bondage, and I actually don't have a ton of experience with that. I wanted to have some more hands-on and foundational knowledge about it before I draw it, so that's what I did this Sunday evening, lol. Do not take this post to be educational, I am a beginner.

If you're interested in learning rope bondage, the best way to do it is with a real life person who is an expert in it, since rope bondage is actually a pretty risky activity. But there are also very informative sites like The Duchy, and I've heard that Shibari Study is also good.

After going through the bondage 101 lessons on The Duchy, I wanted to try doing some ties! I didn't want to practice on a real person for my first time, but luckily I have this adjustable dress form mannequin I use for sewing clothes :D I def want to go through all of The Duchy's lessons & tutorial library when I have more time, but since I had limited time, I just followed some simple tutorials on YouTube.

Attempt 1: Cross chest harness
I found that it's kind of difficult to keep the rope tension right all the time, especially when you're pausing to look at a tutorial video every few seconds. Some of the rope is definitely too loose here. I think the front looks pretty nice, but the back was a mess, haha.

Attempt 2: Bikini harness
I was really enjoying this one, but then I ran out of rope!!! D: I swear, it felt like I had way TOO much rope to start with, but I guess it still wasn't enough. Note to self: get a longer rope. Now that I look at it, though, I think my bottom rows of rope were too low. Please excuse my dirty nails, I was gardening right before this 🥬

Attempt 3: Simple chest harness
Ok, this one was fun to do and really easy as well! The back didn't even look bad. I think it would look cuter with thicker rope, though.

Attempt 4: Self double column tie
This one was kind of confusing to do because I did it on myself, but I wanted to know what the rope feels like. I would probably feel comfortable doing this on someone else after a little more practice because it was 1. really simple and 2. felt pretty secure and nice. Oh, and note the bondage safety scissors! Always keep them nearby when playing with rope.

That's all the time I had to dedicate to that at the moment, but I had a lot of fun and feel a little more educated about rope bondage! :D 10/10 weekend activity. I think the rope looks gorgeous, and It's actually quite relaxing and satisfying to do, so I'll probably devote more time to it when I'm not as busy.
