The Strongest Sorcerer, Chapter 38: Basara Attempts to Stop Gojo Satoru

Tokyo Onmyoji Branch? Onmyoji?

The trapped people’s hearts surged with hope.

“Alright, let’s go. I’ll lead you back to the real world,” the man said, forcing a lighthearted smile.

He deliberately adopted a relaxed tone to ease the tense atmosphere. Many of the people around him seemed to be at their breaking point.

As he reached for his waist to retrieve a talisman to open the gate to the real world, his hand froze.

His face twitched.

“Damn it! I forgot to bring the talisman to unlock the Gate to Reality!”

Due to the urgency of the situation, the Onmyoji of Tokyo had been rushed to Magano immediately after receiving their orders. In their haste, many had forgotten to bring the necessary tools—he was no exception.

Forget it, I’ll find the captain.

Remembering that several Onmyoji squads were stationed just outside the shopping mall, the man waved to the survivors and said, “Everyone, follow me!”

Elsewhere.

Gojo Satoru had already arrived in Magano.

But he was stopped.

Looking around at the barrier that had formed and the figure standing before him—a being with brown skin and a single crimson eye marred by cracks—Gojo calmly assessed the situation.

“A Basara? And one I’ve never seen before…”

Gojo mused to himself.

This Basara was unfamiliar to him. Even in his previous life, he had no memory of encountering such a creature.

Clearly, this Basara’s existence was somehow tied to Gojo himself.

Ever since he came to this world, the rate of Kegare manifestations had increased significantly. It wasn’t surprising that a few unknown Basara had emerged during this time.

“Gojo Satoru, the strongest in the Onmyoji world. Did I get that right?”

The Basara’s voice was hoarse as it spoke, its tone laced with malice.

“Ah, being recognized by the highest-ranking Basara. I feel so… honored,” Gojo replied, his expression calm as he sat leisurely on a rock.

His signature sunglasses had long since been tucked away in his pocket.

“But what’s your goal? Dragging over a thousand people into Magano? Aren’t you afraid of enraging the entire Onmyoji world and even the Exorcists?”

“Enrage them?” The Basara sneered. “Those thousand people are just bait. Our real target… is you, Gojo Satoru.”

The Basara’s lips curled into a manic grin.

“Our plan is simple: trap you here in Magano, and then I’ll kill you, the strongest Onmyoji. With you gone, the scales of victory will finally tip in our favor!”

Silence.

The air grew deathly still.

A few seconds later…

“Pfft… hahahaha!”

Gojo burst into laughter, his shoulders shaking as he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye.

It had been a long time since anyone had dared to say something like that to him.

Back in the world of Jujutsu Sorcery, Sukuna had uttered similar words. And now, in this world, this Basara was spouting the same nonsense.

It was just… too funny!

(For better immersion, play "One B-Boy" or "Sweet Dreams" in the background.)

“Well then, why don’t you give it a shot?” Gojo said, his tone light, but his eyes gleaming with sharp intensity.

At that moment, the Basara lunged.

With a powerful push from its right leg, the sound barrier shattered with a deafening ‘boom!’

A dark, menacing cursed energy surged into its right hand, forming a massive claw as it swiped at Gojo.

‘Boom!’

A nearby hill collapsed instantly under the force of the attack.

Dust filled the air, obscuring the Basara’s view.

“Is it over?”

Not sensing any cursed energy, the Basara began to relax.

But in the next moment…

“Not bad. You’ve got some strength.”

A calm voice pierced through the haze.

As the dust settled, Gojo Satoru stood in the same spot, completely unscathed.

Even his snow-white hair remained untouched, free of any dirt.

Behind him, however, the ground was completely destroyed. It looked as though a heavy vehicle had plowed through, leaving behind a path of shattered rubble.

[Limitless Technique]

“How… how is this possible?!”

The Basara’s lone crimson eye widened in disbelief.

But before it could react—

Gojo grabbed the Basara’s right arm.

With a swift kick to its ribs, he sent the Basara flying through the air.

The Basara tried to stabilize itself mid-flight, but Gojo appeared in front of it in an instant.

With a brutal punch to its face, the Basara was sent hurtling in a different direction, like a kite with a broken string.

Gojo didn’t stop there.

The white-haired figure continuously closed the distance, relentlessly pummeling the Basara.

If the Basara was sent flying one way, Gojo would intercept it and send it crashing back in the opposite direction.

“Damn it!”

The Basara roared in fury as it struggled to fight back.

Pulling out an old, yellowed talisman, it activated a spell.

“Dark Raven Manifestation, by the law of incantation!”

A surge of dark energy exploded from the Basara.

Black, crow-like wings sprouted from its back, and its hands and feet transformed into sharp, hooked claws.

With a powerful flap of its wings, a violent wind swept across the battlefield.

But it was all for naught.

“Know your place, punching bag.”

In less than a second, Gojo reappeared in front of the Basara.

With his pale, elegant hand, he gripped the creature’s throat and slammed it into the ground below.

The azure glow of Gojo’s eyes reflected an icy, merciless rage.

The Basara’s black wings scraped and thrashed against the ground as it tried to break free.

“Get off of me!”

With a desperate flap of its wings, the Basara managed to escape Gojo’s grasp.

But before it could even catch its breath—

‘Boom!’

Gojo appeared behind it once more, delivering a devastating side kick.

The Basara was sent crashing through five buildings in a row before its momentum finally came to a halt.
