The Strongest Sorcerer, Chapter 59: Taiyo Oga's Escape
Added 2025-01-25 22:17:31 +0000 UTCHiratsuka Shizuka was momentarily stunned, not quite understanding.
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Gojo Satoru suddenly remembered that the protective talisman he had given her not only blocked curse energy but also shielded her from perceiving any "mysterious" phenomena.
He activated a small amount of curse energy in his hand and directed it into Shizuka’s body.
In an instant, her vision changed drastically.
The classroom was filled with countless tiny black orbs, buzzing around like flies. Surrounding Taiyo Oga were even more of these orbs, swarming chaotically.
“Th-this is?!”
She was visibly startled.
“Just minor demons. Nothing dangerous, don’t panic, Shizuka,” Gojo reassured her calmly.
Hearing his words, Shizuka quickly regained her composure.
Raising her head, she looked at her partner, and in a low voice, she asked, “Why is this different from what I experienced back then, Satoru?”
When she had encountered the supernatural before, she had been dragged into the Magano and chased by monsters. Taiyo’s situation, however, seemed to be causing changes even in his physical body.
“He’s been possessed by a demon, that’s all,” Gojo replied casually.
A demon?
Shizuka’s pupils contracted.
Wasn’t that just a mythological concept? But as she thought back to the events of six months ago, she quickly accepted it.
After all, if monsters and exorcists from another world could exist, why would the presence of demons be surprising?
While the two conversed, Taiyo Oga had been trembling ever since the mention of being sent to the disciplinary office.
He repeatedly muttered the same phrase under his breath, “No… no… no… NO!”
Suddenly, with a final, furious shout, his expression twisted into a grimace, and he leapt backward—straight out of the window.
“Ahhhh!”
“No, stop!”
“Taiyo-kun!”
A cacophony of panicked screams erupted in the classroom.
After all, this was the fourth floor. Jumping from this height was almost certainly fatal.
Mafuyu Kirisu and the others rushed to the window and peered down below.
But to their shock, there was no sign of Taiyo’s body—he had completely disappeared.
“Did he escape?”
Gojo raised an eyebrow, his tone indifferent.
He hadn’t expected Taiyo Oga’s willpower to suppress the awakening demon within him.
With a tinge of boredom, Gojo released a wave of curse energy, instantly eradicating all the minor demons lingering in the classroom. Then, without a word, he turned and left.
Aside from Shizuka, the rest of the class was too focused on the aftermath of the incident to notice Gojo’s departure.
Walking through the empty hallways, Gojo didn’t head back to his own class. Instead, he made his way toward the principal’s office.
To prevent further complications, it was better to have Principal Yamamoto dismiss the school early.
After all, demons were known to hold grudges. There was a high probability Taiyo Oga—or rather, the demon—would return.
1:00 PM
Through a school-wide announcement, Sobu High declared an unexpected early dismissal for all students and staff. Club activities were also temporarily banned.
In the teacher’s office.
Watching Gojo Satoru sipping coffee leisurely, with no intention of leaving, Hiratsuka Shizuka frowned in concern.
“Satoru, are you planning to wait here for that demon to show up?”
“Yep. Can’t just let it roam free, can I?” Gojo replied with a smirk, his tone nonchalant.
“You…” Shizuka’s eyes softened with a mix of emotions.
“Don’t get hurt, okay?”
“Don't worry, Shizuka,” Gojo said, still carefree. "I am-"
But before he could continue, his words were cut off as she pressed her lips to his in a sudden kiss.
Gojo’s cerulean eyes widened slightly in surprise before softening with warmth.
A minute later, Shizuka pulled away, catching her breath. Cupping Gojo’s face in her hands, she looked into his eyes and said seriously:
“I know how strong you are, Satoru, but please be careful. I don’t care about "Onmyoji Gojo Satoru"—I only care about the Gojo Satoru who jokes around, makes me laugh and teases me every day.”
“Don’t worry, Shizuka. It’s just a small demon,” Gojo reassured her with a helpless smile.
To him, it wasn’t a big deal at all. He even thought Shizuka was overreacting. A single demon? Even if Satan himself from the Void Realm showed up, Gojo would handle it without breaking a sweat.
“Fine. But text me once it’s taken care of,” Shizuka said, finally letting go of his face.
“Why do you sound like you’re treating me like a kid?” Gojo muttered, rubbing his head.
“Pfft. To me, you’re always a kid,” Shizuka teased.
“In that case… this kid wants milk,” Gojo said with a mischievous grin.
“Go away, you idiot!” Shizuka retorted, laughing as she walked out.
The sound of the door closing brought a brief end to their playful banter. Alone in the office, Gojo quietly resumed sipping his coffee.
Earlier, he had called Umaru to let her know he’d be home later than usual.
But, much like Shizuka, Umaru had also insisted he be careful.
Gojo sighed in exasperation.
“Why do they think I’m weak?”
5:00 PM
Bored out of his mind, Gojo used his coffee spoon to tap rhythmically against the edge of his cup.
“That kid isn’t coming back, is he?” he muttered to himself.
He had spent the past four hours waiting at the school, fully expecting Taiyo Oga to return.
Normally, when a demon’s energy manifested, it was like setting off a beacon—Gojo would be able to sense it no matter where it was.
Initially, Gojo had planned to let the demon come to him rather than chasing after it. But now, not even a trace of its presence had appeared, not just at the school but throughout the city.
“Fine. Guess I’ll grab some dessert,” Gojo said with a yawn, standing up to leave.
But then—
His relaxed expression soured as he turned his head westward.
“Are you kidding me? Now it decides to show up? Unbelievable.”
From the west, the demon’s energy flared up, bright and unmistakable, like a fire in the dead of night.
