The Strongest Sorcerer, Chapter 60: Denji, Who Has Yet to Become the Chainsaw Devil

In a filthy, foul-smelling alleyway corner.

Taiyo Oga curled up on the ground, his entire body drenched in cold sweat, his eyes filled with extreme madness.

He was trying to suppress himself, suppress something within his body.

But no matter how hard he clenched his teeth, nearly shattering his molars, he was on the verge of losing control.

“Argh!”

He let out a pained scream.

Devilish features began to emerge on Taiyo Oga’s body—sharp teeth, elongated ears, and even a flexible black tail sprouting from his lower back.

After a brief convulsion, his body finally steadied.

“This feeling is amazing,” he said, crawling up from the ground, grinning as if he were a completely different person.

The demon's consciousness had fully taken over his body.

Clenching his now-powerful fists, Taiyo Oga muttered darkly to himself.

“That teacher should just die. If it weren’t for him interfering, I wouldn’t have been rejected by Masuzu. I’ll kill him.”

The overwhelming strength coursing through him swelled his arrogance to the breaking point.

He twisted his stiff neck and prepared to head to Sobu High School. However—

Gurgle—

His stomach growled loudly.

Rubbing his abdomen, Taiyo Oga muttered under his breath.

“Forget it, let’s grab a bite first.”

What he meant by "food," of course, wasn’t rice or anything of the sort—it was human flesh and blood!

Stepping out of the alleyway, Taiyo Oga found that the area was almost deserted, leaving him a bit disappointed.

After all, this place was already close to a forest, and there weren’t any residential areas nearby.

However, suddenly, in the distance, a figure appeared in his line of sight.

“Looks like food’s here,” he muttered with delight, sticking out his long tongue and walking toward the figure.

“Ugh, what am I going to do about food for the next few days?”

Walking along a dilapidated road, a boy wearing an eye patch sighed deeply.

Just ten minutes ago, he had gone to a convenience store to buy discounted bread. However, after bumping into a passerby, his last few hundred yen had been stolen.

Great. Now he couldn’t eat for days unless he got a devil-hunting job to earn money.

This boy was none other than Denji.

With short blond hair, dark eyes, and a black eye patch, Denji was a scrappy, impoverished teen.

His parents were no longer alive.

His mother had died of heart disease, coughing up blood. His father, in a drunken stupor, had tried to kill him, forcing Denji to kill his father in self-defense.

To repay his father’s debt, Denji had sold one of his kidneys, his right eye, and even one of his testicles.

Moreover, he worked as a devil hunter for the yakuza, signing contracts with devils and becoming a "freelance devil hunter."

But thankfully, Denji wasn’t completely alone—he had one companion.

Pochita.

His contract partner, a dog-like devil.

Woof, woof—

Suddenly, the dog walking beside Denji let out a soft, puppy-like whine.

Its tone was full of caution, as if trying to warn its "friend."

“What’s wrong, Pochita?”

Denji squatted down, puzzled, and petted the creature.

Pochita nudged Denji’s knee with its head, as if urging him to run away quickly.

Danger?

Realizing this, Denji immediately began scanning his surroundings.

But all he could see in the distance was a person walking toward him. How could that be dangerous?

Woof, woof—

Pochita’s cries grew more urgent.

Forget it.

Trusting Pochita, Denji grabbed the little devil and started running deeper into the forest.

“Hey, where do you think you’re running off to, human?”

A sinister voice suddenly echoed in Denji’s ears.

Before he could react, he felt his vision spinning wildly backward.

“I haven’t eaten yet,” the voice continued.

Falling to the ground, Denji rubbed his aching back and looked up at the figure in front of him.

“A devil?!”

He gasped in shock but quickly shook his head.

“No, you’re not an ordinary devil… You’re one of those demons from the Void Realm, aren’t you?”

As a freelance devil hunter, Denji knew there were two kinds of these creatures: one born from human fear, and another from the legendary Void Realm.

The latter type of demon was supposed to be banished by exorcists. So how was this one here?

Denji thought to himself anxiously.

But he didn’t have time to dwell on it. Scrambling to his feet, he pulled out the hand axe hidden at his waist.

“You know about me?”

Grinning wickedly, Taiyo Oga licked his lips with his long tongue.

“Doesn’t matter. Knowing won’t save you from becoming my meal.”

The demonic features on Taiyo’s body grew even more pronounced.

What was once a human face now bore bull-like traits. His skin darkened to a brownish hue, and his right arm extended rapidly, grabbing Denji by the leg and yanking him backward.

The force was so strong that Denji felt his leg might be ripped off. Despite the searing pain, he gritted his teeth and swung his axe at the arm holding him.

Splat—

Blood sprayed everywhere.

“Argh! That hurts, kid!”

Recoiling his arm, Taiyo Oga roared in fury, his face twisting with rage.

His human-like appearance vanished entirely, replaced by the full visage of a demonic bull. His body swelled, and his clothes were shredded by his rapidly expanding frame.

With a single step, the ground beneath him cracked and sank a full meter.

“Aren’t you afraid the exorcists will come for you, demon?”

Dodging an attack, Denji shouted nervously, glancing at the deep crater left by Taiyo’s casual punch.

“They can come. I’ll eat them too,” Taiyo replied dismissively, now fully transformed into a demon.

In his mind, even exorcists were just food.

Damn it!

Denji’s expression grew grim.

“Be my meal, kid!”

With a crazed grin, Taiyo swung his fists wildly.

He had decided—he would crush this human into a pulp and swallow him whole.

“I’d rather die than be your food!”

Dodging frantically, Denji quickly put some distance between himself and the demon, his lone eye scanning his surroundings for an escape route.

But…

Humans had limits.

Before Denji could react, Taiyo appeared before him in the blink of an eye. A devastating elbow strike sent him flying into the air, blood gushing from his mouth.
