Reborn as Superman's Son, Ch 36

Chapter 36: Eden vs. the Invincible Army—I Thought They Were Speed Bumps!

"Emergency alert! Emergency alert!"

"Earth is under attack by unidentified invaders. All residents are advised to proceed in an orderly fashion to the nearest shelters."

"I repeat, Earth is under attack by unidentified invaders. Please proceed to the nearest shelters immediately!"

When the Invincibles rained down from the sky like a storm, emergency notifications from the Defense Agency immediately blared from every phone across the globe.

It seemed Cecil had anticipated this disaster.

Of course, although countless Invincibles were invading Earth, they were primarily concentrated in one location—New York City, America, where Eden was.

Eden watched the sky filled with Invincibles. After a brief moment of thought, he instantly understood what had happened. He communicated directly with the system within him, "System, explain. Why did all those worlds I simulated become real?"

[...]

The system fell silent under Eden's interrogation.

About a second later, it finally responded: [Master, perhaps everything you've experienced is a trial from Lord OBA.]

"To hell with your trial! Once I deal with these bastards, I'm settling accounts with you." As Eden spoke, he changed directly into his pitch-black battle suit and flew into the sky.

When Eden appeared in his distinctive black suit, hovering in the sky, he was immediately spotted by several Invincibles. They let out maniacal laughter and charged straight at him. "Hahaha! I found that bastard first! The grand prize is mine!"

"You're fucking dead!"

Eden's gaze turned vicious. He had no intention of holding back. Swinging his fist, he directly pulverized the head of the nearest Invincible.

"Whoosh!"

As crimson blood sprayed across the sky, a headless corpse plummeted from the sky and crashed violently into the ground below.

Unfortunately, Eden's display didn't frighten the other Invincibles at all. "That guy's weak! I've killed your father dozens of times! Everyone attack together! Take him down!"

Seven or eight Marks in white-and-yellow, white-and-blue, and yellow-and-blue uniforms exchanged glances. They seemed to reach a decision and once again charged toward Eden.

Eden snorted coldly, "Hmph! Don't you bastards understand yet? No matter how many of you come, you can't do anything to me!" His arm became a blade, and in a single exchange, he sliced straight through eight of the charging Marks, cutting them in half at the waist.

Then Eden grabbed the heads of the remaining two Invincibles, one in each hand. "Answer me. Who sent you here? And who helped you find this world?"

"We're your nightmare!"

Though the Invincible in white and blue was caught by the head, he showed no fear and taunted Eden defiantly.

"Wrong answer!"

"Pop!" Eden gave the white-and-blue Invincible no chance to ramble and crushed his head directly.

"I'll talk! I'll talk!"

The yellow-and-blue Invincible gripped in Eden's right hand panicked immediately and spoke frantically.

"Never mind. You don't need to say anything either." Eden seemed to lose interest. Without giving the yellow-and-blue Invincible a chance to speak, he crushed his head as well.

"I just need to kill them all before they cause chaos."

Eden's eyes flashed with cold light as he flew directly into the sky.

At that moment, Eden's super brain was constantly warning him—it was time to use his full power.

Global Defense Agency prison.

"Boom!"

With an ear-splitting roar, a Mark with slicked-back hair and wearing a blue uniform smashed through the empty prison. He cursed angrily, "Where is everyone? What the hell? Why aren't there any criminals in this prison at all? Don't the superheroes in this world do their jobs?"

Just then, The Immortal—who'd finally revived after being killed by Thragg—suddenly shot into the air. Like a meteor, he charged straight at the slicked-back Mark. "Of course we work, you idiot! You're asking why there aren't any criminals in the prison? Obviously because they're all dead, you moron! As for why they're all dead? You'll have to ask Eden about that!"

"Huh?!"

The slicked-back Mark was caught off guard for a moment and knocked back. This had to be the strongest Immortal he'd ever encountered in any universe.

Far stronger than the Immortal from his own world.

Even so, after a brief moment of panic, the slicked-back Mark's face twisted into a savage grin. He looked at The Immortal and laughed. "I once killed you for good, Immortal! Don't think you can keep living forever."

"Pop!"

Immediately after, the slicked-back Mark first used a hand chop to slice open The Immortal's abdomen, then snapped his neck, and finally dismembered him completely, cutting off all four limbs.

At that moment, the not-dead Immortal died again.

After finishing all this, the slicked-back Mark wiped the blood that had splattered on his face and smiled viciously. "Hahaha! Now I just need to stuff his body in a trash bag and throw it into the sun, and he'll never revive again. Now tell me, who's the real idiot?"

"Damn it, The Immortal got killed again?!"

Just then, under War Woman's rallying call, the assembled Guardians of the Globe team arrived at the battlefield. Seeing The Immortal torn into pieces by the slicked-back Mark, they all showed expressions of barely suppressed fury.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of putting him back together, just like before."

Darkwing sighed, indicating that reviving The Immortal could be left to him.

In fact, the last time The Immortal had been killed by Thragg, Darkwing had spent several hours searching for The Immortal's body, which had fallen from ten thousand meters and shattered into pieces in a valley, before finally assembling it for revival.

It hadn't even been a month since then, and now The Immortal was dead again.

This meant Darkwing would have to do the reassembly job once more.

The slicked-back Mark said angrily, as if the Guardians still being alive was some great humiliation to him. "The Guardians of the Globe?! What the hell! This universe's Guardians are all still alive? As far as I know, the Guardians in every universe should be dead."

"But that's fine! This way I get to kill them with my own hands." As he spoke, a sonic boom erupted behind the slicked-back Mark as he shot toward the Guardians team like a missile.

"Bang!"

War Woman seemed to anticipate Mark's attack. Her eyes showed no fear as she directly blocked the others from behind.

"Bang!"

Mark found himself unable to brake in time and ended up plastered against War Woman's body. "Damn, you're really tough! Let me think... in my universe, how did I kill you again? Oh right, I threw you into the sun along with The Immortal's corpse."

In an instant, the slicked-back Mark felt like he'd crashed into an entire block of cosmic alloy, leaving himself bloodied from every orifice.

"Bang!"

Before the slicked-back Mark could catch his breath, War Woman's mace smashed into his face, knocking him to the ground.

"I'll restrain him!"

At that moment, Martian Man transformed himself into rubber and bound the slicked-back Mark's limbs.

"You think you can hold me?"

Once restrained by Martian Man, the slicked-back Mark roared, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes bloodshot as if engorged with blood.

"Ahhh!!"

Under the slicked-back Mark's exertion, Martian Man's body began to tear apart.

"Senior!"

"I'll help you."

Seeing his senior about to be ripped apart by the slicked-back Mark, the shapeshifter Green Ghost immediately transformed into rubber as well and joined forces with his senior to bind Mark.

"What the hell?"

"There's another Martian here?"

Mark roared in rage. He'd been about to break free, but with Green Ghost joining in, he felt somewhat short of breath.

"Bang!"

At that moment, War Woman's mace struck his face once more, smashing Mark's face into a bloody pulp.

"Motherfucker!"

"Once I break free, you're the first one I'm killing!"

Mark glared at War Woman and threatened.

"Bang!"

At that moment, Red Rush's fist also landed on the slicked-back Mark's face.

Under Red Rush's attack at ten thousand times the speed of sound, the slicked-back Mark immediately lost a tooth.

"Damn it!"

The slicked-back Mark was on the verge of being driven insane by the Guardians. If it were one-on-one, he'd have torn these bastards apart long ago.

But the problem was these bastards coordinated extremely well and seemed to have specifically prepared tactics for dealing with Viltrumites.

Most importantly, every member of this world's Guardians was far stronger than their counterparts in his universe.

"Whoosh!"

Just as the slicked-back Mark opened his mouth, Darkwing fired a rocket directly into it.

"Boom!"

The violent explosion left the slicked-back Mark's ears ringing, his bodily functions briefly thrown into chaos.

The slicked-back Mark felt dizzy and disoriented. "What's with that sonic weapon?"

"Brit Battering Ram!"

Just then, after discovering he couldn't harm the slicked-back Mark and would get injured himself if he punched him, Red Rush lifted up the nearby Brit and charged at the slicked-back Mark at ten thousand times the speed of sound.

"Oh shit!"

Seeing this, Martian Man and Green Ghost immediately released the slicked-back Mark.

"What are they trying to do?!"

Still affected by the sonic weapon's ringing in his ears, the slicked-back Mark couldn't recover his condition. He could only watch helplessly as Red Rush held Brit and charged at him.

"Screw this!"

Just as the slicked-back Mark stared in terror at this unholy combination of Red Rush and Brit, Red Rush had already rammed Brit's body straight through the slicked-back Mark.

Red Rush: "Rammed right through!"

Brit: "No problem. Just call me the Sky Defense next time!"

Guardians: "You guys are really giving it your all to stay alive."

Darkwing watched the mangled slicked-back Mark, his eye twitching uncontrollably. "Too brutal! We can't learn from Eden."

"Being merciful to your enemies is being cruel to yourself, buddy."

Red Rush pointed at the dismembered Immortal and said, "Just like Eden said, we're not The Immortal. We don't get second chances."

Just as the Guardians members breathed a cautious sigh of relief, accompanied by one sonic boom after another, dozens of Marks descended from the sky and surrounded the entire Guardians team. "They actually took down one of our counterparts?! Hahaha! Unbelievable! Every hero in this world is stronger than in our worlds."

"Damn it! Looks like we're going to die here. We'll buy you time, Red Rush. Red Rush, you have to find a way to escape and report this to Cecil. You're our only hope of getting out of here alive."

The Guardians members looked at the sky filled with Invincibles and showed expressions of despair. Fighting just one Invincible required their entire team working in perfect coordination. Fighting two Invincibles was already their team's upper limit. Facing dozens of Invincibles, they had no chance of victory.

"I understand."

Red Rush swallowed hard. Though it was cruel, this was their best option right now.

"Bang!"

Just as Red Rush prepared to flee and the rest of the Guardians prepared to sacrifice themselves here to prove their heroic convictions, a jet-black beam of light descended from the sky. In a single instant, dozens of Invincibles' heads flew cleanly from their shoulders. As blood sprayed across the heavens, corpse after corpse crashed heavily to the ground.

"Uh..."

For a moment, the entire Guardians team stood dumbfounded, staring up at Eden in the sky. Honestly, their hearts had never felt so secure.

Eden didn't bother with the aftermath. Without even glancing at the Guardians, he simply urged them once before his form vanished into the distance. "What are you all standing around for?! Hurry up and go save people!"

Just as Eden took to the sky, another dozen or so Invincibles arrived, drawn by the commotion. "Haha! Found that bastard!"

"Quick, notify the Emperor!"

The Invincibles looked at Eden excitedly, eager to engage.

"Wait, why isn't he slowing down?"

But it wasn't until the Invincibles realized Eden was charging straight at them without the slightest deceleration that they began to panic.

"Wait—"

Before the Invincibles could finish speaking, Eden rammed straight through all dozen of them, reducing them to paste.

Eden: "I thought they were speed bumps!"

"Thank god he's on our side."

On the ground below, the Guardians members watched Eden take off and collectively sighed.

When Eden wasn't on your side, he was truly terrifying. But when he was your ally, he was incredibly reassuring.

"Why hasn't Aquarus shown up yet?!"

At that moment, Red Rush seemed to remember something and looked at Darkwing questioningly.

Darkwing answered, "Aquarus isn't coming. He's the king of Atlantis and needs to protect all the aquatic people."

"What about Green Ghost?" Red Rush asked.

"Green Ghost is protecting Cecil," Darkwing replied.

Then Darkwing raised his wrist, looking at the radar display, and said in a grave voice, "We need to hurry. There are just too many enemies. We can't afford to waste any more time."

Elsewhere.

Hawaii.

Clark had just mentioned taking Nolanne on vacation when these damned Invincibles showed up.

In an instant, thousands of Invincibles surrounded Clark, all of them watching him hungrily.

Apparently, the Invincible army had sent a full three-quarters of their forces to hunt down Eden's father Clark.

The remaining quarter—roughly a few hundred Marks—went to hunt Eden's friends and acquaintances.

And an extremely small number, perhaps no more than a hundred Marks who were pure psychopaths, were scattered across the world causing random destruction.
