Reborn as Superman's Son, Ch 45

Chapter 45: Tony Stark: Holy Shit, I Actually Saw Superman!

Inside the terrorist base.

"Hey! Tony Stark."

"This stuff you're making is really heavy."

Dr. Yinsen was helping Stark put on the crude exoskeleton armor piece by piece.

"Of course I know how heavy it is."

"But please hurry up, Dr. Yinsen."

"I'm sure those terrorist bastards will soon figure out what we're actually doing."

"If you don't get this exoskeleton on me fast enough, we'll both get turned into Swiss cheese by Stark Industries machine guns."

Stark's expression remained calm. Even at this life-or-death moment, his tone still carried hints of irreverence and self-deprecating humor about both Stark Industries and himself.

"I know, Stark."

"I'm doing my best, but this thing you designed is too complex."

Yinsen's forehead dripped with sweat as he continued fitting the exoskeleton armor onto Stark, constantly monitoring the laptop to ensure the suit's power system would run correctly.

Right—if this exoskeleton's programming had even the slightest error, the powerful torque would twist the user's body into a pretzel.

"Bang bang bang!"

"Open the door, you bastards!"

"What the hell are you doing in there?"

"This isn't the missile we wanted!"

At that moment, the door to Yinsen and Stark's "crude" workshop was pounded violently. The terrorists' angry roars echoed from outside.

To trap the famous "genius" inventor Tony Stark, these terrorists had used extremely hard alloy to construct this workshop's door.

The purpose was to make this workshop both a place where Stark could develop missiles and simultaneously serve as his prison cell.

But now, this door had become the biggest obstacle preventing them from capturing Stark.

Both Yinsen and Stark felt fortunate about this.

"Haha!"

"Who told you to make the door so damn solid?!"

"Hoisted by your own petard."

During this, Tony couldn't help taunting them through the door.

"BOOM!!"

Then Stark and Yinsen were met with even fiercer firepower!

To break through this metal door, the terrorists even used an RPG.

"This door won't hold much longer, Tony."

Yinsen said in panic.

"I know, Yinsen."

Stark nodded and asked, "How much longer until this exoskeleton can move?!"

"One minute, Stark. One more minute."

"I'll buy you that minute."

By this point, Yinsen had finished fitting Stark with the exoskeleton armor. After confirming the laptop showed only one final minute before the exoskeleton power system would finish loading, he grabbed the submachine gun from the table and prepared for his final battle.

"BOOM!"

At that same moment, the door crashed down.

"Goodbye, Stark."

Seeing this, Yinsen didn't hesitate. He charged out with the submachine gun.

"Hey, Yinsen, get back here!"

"Stick to my plan."

For the first time, Stark's emotions showed panic. Watching Yinsen about to sacrifice himself, he shouted desperately.

"Rat-tat-tat!!"

Unfortunately, amid the machine gun's staccato bursts and tongues of flame, Yinsen disappeared into the smoke-filled doorway.

"Goddammit."

Stark couldn't help cursing under his breath. He looked at the nearby computer screen showing the progress bar and said urgently, "Come on, baby! Faster, faster!!"

"BOOM!"

On the other side, perhaps Yinsen's fearless spirit had scared the terrorists—with just one man and one gun, he chased four or five terrorists for over a hundred meters, all the way to the base's main hall.

"Shit."

When Yinsen ran into the base's main hall with his gun raised, he froze completely.

The terrorist organization's boss stood there with a group of his men, waiting in formation.

The instant Yinsen stepped into the hall, dozens of black gun barrels were already aimed at every part of his body.

The slightest movement from Yinsen would turn him into Swiss cheese.

"Dr. Yinsen, I thought you were a smart man."

"I didn't expect you to be a complete fool."

"You betrayed me, Dr. Yinsen. So you're going to die."

The terrorist leader looked at the traitorous Dr. Yinsen with disappointment in his eyes. As he spoke, he gave his subordinates a meaningful look.

"Rat-tat-tat!"

In an instant, dozens of gun barrels unleashed endless firepower toward the stunned Yinsen.

"WHOOSH!"

"BOOM!!"

At that moment, accompanied by a piercing roar, the terrorist base's ceiling suddenly developed a massive hole. Before anyone could react, a pitch-black shadow appeared in front of Yinsen.

"What happened?"

"Why's there a hole in the ceiling?"

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!!"

"Is Dr. Yinsen dead?"

"Too much smoke—can't see!!"

The terrorists, including their leader, frowned and peered toward Dr. Yinsen through the smoke.

"Hmmm!"

Before they could investigate further, a pair of crimson lights suddenly blazed within the dense fog.

"What is that?!"

The terrorists exchanged confused glances, at a loss.

"SIZZLE!!"

Unfortunately, no one in this world would tell these terrorists the correct answer anymore.

With a thunderous sound, crimson heat vision tore through the smoke and dust, instantly piercing through every terrorist organization member's brain in one sweep.

At that moment, the smoke cleared.

Clutching his machine gun, Dr. Yinsen saw that a young man in a black combat suit and red cape now stood before him.

Around the youth, the ground was littered with deformed bullets that had suffered high-intensity impacts, along with one headless corpse after another.

"Sizzle!"

Just as Dr. Yinsen was about to say something, he watched the black-clad youth's eyes emit intense crimson light, completely incinerating the terrorist corpses on the ground.

"Jesus Christ."

Dr. Yinsen looked at the youth before him. He first opened his mouth unconsciously, then shook his head. "Oh, God! So you really do exist."

"Tony Stark is here, right?"

At that moment, the black-clad youth—Eden—turned around and asked Dr. Yinsen.

At the same time, Eden couldn't help complaining, "What the hell were these terrorists thinking, stuffing so much lead into the walls? Made me run to the wrong place earlier."

Right—this area of Afghanistan was infested with terrorist organizations. For some reason, these terrorist leaders all seemed to think alike, building their bases with metals containing large amounts of lead. This massively interfered with his X-ray vision, causing him to inadvertently clear out dozens of such bases while trying to rescue Tony Stark.

Eden felt like someone was deliberately adding difficulty to his rescue operation.

"Yes."

Yinsen now acted like a timid quail, nodding continuously at Eden without daring to show the slightest defiance.

Though Yinsen had dared to charge at dozens of terrorists with a submachine gun, that didn't mean he'd dare point a gun at a... "god."

"Hmmm!"

At that moment, a crude metal exoskeleton mech suddenly ran out from the tunnel, with Tony Stark's voice shouting from within, "Don't be afraid! I'm here to save you, Yinsen!"

"Hey!"

"So you're one of those terrorist assholes?"

"Don't think you can cosplay Superman just because you threw on a red cape and drew a big 'S' on your chest!"

As Tony Stark spoke, his exoskeleton mech charged up to Eden and swung a punch with all its force.

"Tony, wait!"

Yinsen tried to say something, but it was too late.

"Haha!"

"Let me show you what my armor can do."

Tony laughed.

"Clank!"

Unfortunately for him.

Tony Stark's fist never touched Eden—Eden blocked it with a single finger.

"Holy shit."

"He's actually Superman?!"

Inside the mech, Tony Stark stared at his blocked fist with wide eyes. He'd never imagined his sarcastic remark would one day become reality.

"CRACK!"

Just as Tony was thinking this.

Eden had already torn the entire arm off Tony Stark's exoskeleton mech, followed by the other arm, then the left leg, right leg, helmet, and chest plate.

"Great!"

"Well done."

"Now I've got nothing left."

"Kill me if you want."

Tony Stark never expected that the exoskeleton he'd spent months building would be dismantled in less than five seconds by this guy who seemed like a Superman superfan. He spread his hands in complete resignation.

"Tony Stark"

After removing all the exoskeleton pieces from Tony Stark, Eden said softly.

"How can I help you, 'Mr. Superman'?"

Tony's words were reasonably polite and courteous.

"Someone hired me to bring you back to New York."

Eden answered honestly.

"Oh, thank God!"

"Yinsen, did you hear that? Turns out 'Mr. Superman' is one of the good guys."

"That makes sense—if the terrorists holding me captive had 'Mr. Superman's' help, they wouldn't even need Stark Industries weapons to take over the whole world."

Tony froze for a moment, then immediately relaxed. He looked at Yinsen, then at the battle traces on the ground. He seemed to understand everything clearly and said with relief, "Looks like 'Mr. Superman' saved you, Yinsen! You really should have told me sooner that 'Mr. Superman' was on our side."

"I was trying to tell you, Stark."

Dr. Yinsen's voice carried helplessness.
