Reborn as Superman's Son, Ch 50

"Mm!"
After Loki finished toying with his "brother" Thor, he arrived at the room heavily guarded by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents—the room containing Mjolnir.
Loki looked at the hammer before him that no one could move. He took a deep breath, then walked forward and gripped the handle with both hands, trying to lift it to prove to the world that he too was worthy.
Unfortunately.
In the end, Loki failed.
"Looks like you need some help, Loki."
Just as Loki was about to leave, a measured voice suddenly sounded in his ear.
"Damn it."
Loki was startled and stumbled back several steps. When he turned around, he was shocked to see a young man in a black suit with a cape standing not far away, silently watching him.
What truly made Loki panic was that he couldn't sense when this young man had appeared before him.
However, after a brief moment of alarm, Loki immediately felt a surge of superiority. He looked Eden up and down, then lifted his chin and said with contempt, "A Midgardian?!"
"You want to lift that hammer, Asgardian?" Eden said. "But it seems the hammer didn't choose you. Or perhaps the hammer knows you're worthy—but it can't accept someone with Frost Giant blood wielding it."
"What does a mere Midgardian like you know?!"
Loki's composure shattered with just a few taunting words from Eden. He went berserk, roaring furiously. He glared at Eden and warned coldly, "I don't know who you are, but I will make you pay."
"BOOM!"
Eden had no intention of wasting time with Loki. His form moved like lightning, closing the distance to Loki and delivering a single punch to his abdomen.
"Ugh..."
Loki's defense, which could withstand most Earth weapons, meant nothing before Eden's fist. He immediately collapsed to the ground.
Eden walked up to Loki and questioned him relentlessly. "Everything you're pursuing is meaningless. Even if you lift this hammer, so what? Are you the God of Hammers? Or does the Asgardian throne work like King Arthur's legend, where the new king is chosen by pulling a sword from a stone? The only difference between you and Camelot is that they have a sword, and you have a hammer."
"I..."
Loki opened his mouth but didn't know what to say.
Eden punched Loki's face again and again, beating him bloody as he continued demanding answers. "You say you want your family's recognition. Now Odin sleeps, Thor has lost his power and become mortal, and your mother will eventually pass as prophesied. So tell me, Loki—even if you successfully gain the gods' recognition, what will you have in five hundred years? Answer me, Loki!"
"I... I..."
After Eden beat Loki to the brink of death and unconsciousness, he finally stopped. He called Phil Coulson over and pointed at the half-dead Loki. "Take this guy away."
"Good lord. When did another person show up here?" Phil Coulson said in shock.
Detention room.
At that moment, Thor was staring at the sky outside in despair. His eyes were filled with tears. He didn't understand—why would Father truly abandon him?!
At that moment, Coulson followed Eden's instructions and brought Loki, wrapped head to toe in bandages, into the detention room. "Hey, Mr. Thor. Is this your brother?"
"Loki!!"
Seeing Loki beaten bloody without a single unbruised patch of skin, Thor's chest burned with rage. As he roared, lightning crackled across his body, then he collapsed to the ground, foaming at the mouth and convulsing.
The lightning coming from Thor's body was from Coulson's taser.
"Splash!"
After some time passed, a bucket of cold water was thrown over them. The bone-chilling cold stimulated both Thor and Loki awake.
"It's you!!"
Before Thor could speak, Loki spoke first with an angry expression. He looked at Eden and fumed, "I hadn't even said anything yet when you started beating me! You Midgardians are too barbaric and rude!"
Eden sat before Thor and Loki, demanding answers. "Enough. Now tell me—you two Asgardians, instead of staying in your own territory, you've illegally invaded my Earth. What's this all about?"
"I was banished by Father!"
Thor, being simple-minded, answered whatever Eden asked.
"Tsk."
This scene made Loki frown.
Eden slammed the table twice forcefully and said gravely, "That doesn't matter. No matter why you came to Earth, you must know that here you follow Earth's rules—my rules."
"We're Asgardians. Why should we follow Midgardian rules?!"
Thor was still being stubborn.
"What rules?"
In contrast, Loki asked Eden directly.
"One of you must stay on Earth forever—or as you call it, Midgard—and protect it for the rest of your life."
Eden laid out his terms.
"That's impossible!"
Thor shook his head.
"That makes sense!"
Loki nodded repeatedly. He thought Eden had a point.
"Huh?"
Hearing this, Thor turned to look at Loki, his eyes full of disbelief.
Thor couldn't understand why Loki thought Eden's words made sense.
"Which of you arrived on Earth first?"
Eden's voice continued.
"I did!"
Thor snorted coldly and stated plainly.
"My brother arrived first."
Loki said with a smile.
"Then you will stay here forever and protect Earth."
After getting a satisfactory answer, Eden looked at Thor and said in a tone that brooked no argument.
"No way."
Thor shook his head vigorously. He absolutely refused.
"I think there's no problem."
Loki suddenly felt that the injuries Eden had beaten into him didn't hurt so much anymore.
If Thor stayed on Earth forever, then no one would compete with him for the Asgardian throne. Odin would have no other choice.
Thor looked at Loki beside him in disbelief. He was nearly in tears. "What? Brother, you don't want me anymore?"
Loki countered, "Brother. This is the price you must pay. We invaded Earth first. And brother! Have you forgotten why Father banished you? It was because you invaded the world of the Frost Giants first."
Loki looked at Thor, speaking each word deliberately. "You invaded the Frost Giants' world. So you had to pay the price of being banished from Asgard by Father. You invaded Midgard—the world of Earth's people. So you must pay the price of staying here forever. These are the rules."
"I..."
Thor tried to say something several times, but under Loki's gaze, he finally lowered his head and said weakly, "I understand."
Eden asked, "Since you've sorted things out, let's sign a contract. Do you Asgardians have special contract paper?"
"Yes, of course we do."
Loki nodded while pulling out a magically binding contract he carried with him. He said, "We will swear by the Allfather Odin."
"I swear by the Allfather Odin!"
"I will protect this place forever until my sins are redeemed."
Thor looked at the contract before him and said lifelessly.
As Eden spoke, he went outside the detention room to where Thor's hammer was stored and gripped Mjolnir's handle with one hand. "Very good. In that case, lift this hammer!"
"You can't possibly lift it."
Thor and Loki exchanged glances. Neither believed Eden could lift Mjolnir.
After all, this hammer had rejected both Thor and Loki in succession. If even these two Asgardian royals couldn't lift it, how could a Midgardian?!
Eden adjusted his breathing. Veins bulged on his forehead as terrifying power began forcing its way against Mjolnir.
Yes, Eden naturally hadn't been deemed worthy by Mjolnir.
But that didn't mean Eden truly couldn't lift the hammer.
"Hum!!"
As Eden gradually exerted more force, the hammer began trembling involuntarily.
Eden's versatile bioelectric field began colliding with the Odin enchantment placed on the hammer.
"This is impossible?!"
Seeing this, Thor and Loki instinctively exchanged glances. They could both see the shock in each other's eyes.
"BOOM!!"
Then, accompanied by thunder from the sky and the ground beginning to shake continuously, Eden lifted Mjolnir from the ground right before Thor and Loki's eyes and raised it high above his head.
Wherever Mjolnir pointed, lightning followed.
"..."
At that moment, neither Thor nor Loki could make a sound. They looked at Eden with expressions of utter disbelief.
"You were actually recognized?"
Loki couldn't believe Eden had lifted Mjolnir.
Eden shook his head. "No. I wasn't recognized by the hammer."
Thor said gravely, "You say you weren't recognized? But you've lifted the hammer."
Eden said calmly, "Yes. Don't worry. I just brute-forced it."
Asgard.
Odin, who'd been lying in his coffin pretending to sleep, suddenly opened his right eye. He said in disbelief, "This is impossible. Did I really lose my son?!"
