yayyy, you won’t be disappointed Lane! I’d love to hear your final thoughts on both once you finish them. I’ve only seen this version so far, but I’m planning to watch the Thai one eventually. I’m curious whether seeing one first makes you more inclined to prefer it. I can’t think of a perfect comparison right now, but I watched IT (2017) before the original IT (1990) and ended up preferring the newer version. Some might say that’s because of the improved special effects, but I usually prefer original horror films from the 90s - 00s over their remakes. So I do wonder, if I’d seen IT (1990) first, would I have felt differently? 🤔

2025-08-15 12:34:39 +0000 UTCOK, now I have decided to go back and watch the Japanese version out of curiosity, and of course I have to watch your reactions as well. I liked the Thai version and yet I know that a lot of people were not crazy about it. I’m seeing that the storylines are very similar (with a few changes here and there) but that the takes on the main characters (particularly Aoki and Ida) are different. I also know that the Thai version went back to the original manga rather than adapting the script of the Japanese TV version, and since I haven’t seen the manga, I can’t say, which is more faithful to it. But so far, I’m finding this version equally entertaining to the Thai version. I’ll be continuing to watch episodes and your reactions as time permits, and I’ll be interested to see how things change or stay the same as the series goes on.

2025-06-05 00:49:13 +0000 UTCI think that while it's true it might be better to watch this and the Thai versions a good while apart, it's also true that both have their unique charm and can be enjoyed without necessarily comparing them in a negative way. The Thai version introduced me to Chokun, who's now one of my favorite smiles in the world. In fact, the Japanese actor and Chokun have a really strong resemblance! Like with Cherry Magic, I think it's totally worth watching both versions, even if the Japanese one is my favorite.

2025-06-05 00:04:26 +0000 UTCI was hoping for a rewatch of this series, it's very, very good. The cast is amazing; they're gorgeous and perfectly suited for each character. The actors are a little off-age, like you said, but it's not something too noticeable or that bothers me in this case. The show has that "anime-style" humor, but it's not exaggerated, it works well. My favorite scenes are Ida waiting for Aoki’s confession on the rooftop in that samurai posture with the epic background music XD, and the "Waaaaa" when Aoki’s being transformed by the fairy. Waaaaaaaaa. I loved the play scene more in this version than in the Thai one. Another thing that made me really dig this series is that the characters are both good-natured and socially awkward. I like seeing kindness represented in shows. It made all the silly misunderstandings feel more believable too.

2025-06-04 15:34:42 +0000 UTCYesssss!! so glad you checked out the original first because i know the thai version is more well known recently (don't get me wrong I love both versions). also, when this first came out i was so surprised because the two leads are both very popular jpop idols (different groups). Japan is a very conservative country so the fact that this series received so much love from a demographic that it wasn't originally aimed towards made me so happy. this is definitely one of my comfort shows that i rewatch every now and then so i'm so excited for you to check this one out :)
