桜と男を描こうと思って、散った桜が流れる水に倒れている男、です。
エヴァも宇多田ヒカルも全く関係ありません。

これは実際に、欧米（主に欧）の方に聞いてみないと分からないのですが、聞いた話で、日本で言う「桜」にあたる色は、西洋の文化だと「ローズ」になるそうです。
ただ、ローズは女性的な意味が強いのに対し、日本での桜は、どちらかと言うと武士などの男性を象徴する色・花だったとも言われ、散る桜を武士の死に喩えたそうです。
