2020 decade predictions.
I research anything which interests me, and this also helps me write Daedalus as well as my traditional career in the Solar and Energy industry in Australia. While Australia is behind many countries with adoptions of certain technologies I watch closely what is happening in Scandanavia, Germany, Japan, China, S.Korea and America.

China planted 66billion trees so far in their fight against desertification
Cosmology and Physics are continuing thier march. Theories in the 20th century are being developed into practical outcomes now e.g. Quantum computing
And Politicians become more ignorant every decade.
The main change I see during the 2020 to 2030 decade is the continued development of self driving cars and vehicles. This includes a major impact on freight transport industry. In some states of the US - truck driver - is the most common occupation. 10 years from now there will be a shit fight over progress in this area.
The rise of automation over human labour will continue. It's not going to be pretty. Where people don't feel invested in climate change activism because it doesnt directly effect them and they arent personally feeling consquences (unless you live on a Pacific Island) - watch what happens when taxi drives and truck drivers are replaced with automation. We have the technology to do this now. It's just a matter of working through the bugs and improving implementation.
And Cyberpunk 2077 will be the game of the year in 2020 (ok that was an easy prediction)
