Good afternoon moon babes! I have been reading "Honoring Your Ancestors" by Mallorie Vaudoise and I wanted to share some of the rituals, prompts, and workings they have in the book that I have felt helpful!
This book is actually really amazing, they have a whole section about Ancestral healing and trauma that I felt was important to share. So for todays prompts i'll be sharing two of the six prompts, and as the weeks progress I'll share more so we can work through them slowly and not be overwhelmed. Often times you might look at a prompt outside of your shadow work setting and think it might not be that emotionally draining but once you sit with your ancestors it can be a bit harder. Remember to be kind to yourself while doing this!
Setting the mood:
I personally always like to have my ancestor altar working, meaning a candle and fresh water and offerings everyday but I know not everyone does and that's fine! For this you are going to want to make sure you are sitting "with" your ancestors for this, cleanse your space and yourself, light their candle, and give them fresh water. Then get to work!
1. What trauma are you aware of your ancestors experiencing during their lifetimes, either personally or as a group? When and how did you learn about these traumas? How did learning about them shift your understanding of your living family?
2. What destructive patterns in your living family might be related to those traumas? What survival skills does your living family have that might be related to those traumas?
Blessed be,
Anastasia 🌙
