๐ŸŽ„Yule ๐ŸŽ„

๐ŸŽ„Good morning Moon babes! Today I wanted to talk about Yule a little bit! Yule falls from Tuesday December 21st through January 1st!

What is Yule?

Much of the traditions we honor during Christmas are adapted from the Celtic sabbat Yule. Yule is celebrated during the winter solstice and continues into the beginning of the new year. Some of the celtic traditions we still practice and have been adapted today into decorated evergreen trees, wreaths, holly, mistletoe, and the traditions of gathering with family and friends to celebrate.

The winter solstice marks the point of the year when the sun is the farthest south in its path. This results in the sun traveling its shortest path in the sky, meaning that the winter solstice is the shortest day and longest night. Leading up to the winter solstice the days are shorter, and after the winter solstice the days start getting longer leading up to the summer solstice. Because of the symbolism of darkest night of the year and the return of the sun, this a time to reflect on the past year and look to the brighter days ahead. Focusing on hope after darkness, and the return of the light, these are some of the ideas to focus on during this time. This is a great time to let go of the darkness in your life and celebrate the people and things that bring light into your life.

Witches and spiritualist find themselves celebrating this time of year in similar ways, however the gods that are honored vary by culture. Most witches celebrate this time of year as the return of the sun and the hope and optimism that brings going forward.

This is so great! Thank you. I often find myself spending hours hunting down correspondences and typing them up in my notes app. This is so much better ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ˜˜
