PLEDGE IN EUROS(€), POUNDS(£) OR DOLLARS($)!
Added 2020-08-06 16:43:38 +0000 UTCHey all,
Patreon's just introduced this new thing today and I figured I'd let you all know: Everyone in the UK, EU and U.S. can now pledge to CK in their local currency of Euros (€), British Pounds (£) or U.S. Dollars ($)!
"Okay, but what does that mean?"
Well, basically it means that you shouldn't have to pay extra conversion fees from your bank or card when pledging in a currency that’s not your own. This isn't something that happens to everyone, but for those of you that it does happen to you now have a way of avoiding that!
The default currency setting is US Dollars, incidentally. So if you're happy pledging in USD then you can just ignore this! :)
Any new Patrons will see tiers priced in their local currency of €, £, or $. For those of you who are already pledged and would like to switch your preferred currency you can follow these steps:
- Hover over your avatar in the top right of your screen
- Click Manage memberships
- Find the CK page, and click Edit
- Under Currency, choose your preferred currency
- Click Update to save your settings
For those of you outside of these currencies, you’ll continue to see your pledge priced in US Dollars. Sorry! Hopefully Patreon will expand its available local currencies in time.
Check out this help center article if you have questions about changing your currency, or this article if you have questions about how tiers are priced in these new currencies.

My gutfeeling of not should have upgrade from Vanguard 4 to 5 is beginning to punching.

And yeah, creators now have to cover 2.5% of the conversion charge so we MIGHT end up earning less on each pledge. Depends on how that "buffer" of Patreon's works.
2020-08-07 08:55:08 +0000 UTCBased on that help article it sounds like they're going to charge *more* than the current conversation for this. And who's going to get this extra money I wonder? Bet it isn't going to be creators.
