I could not resist the temptation to portray Casia, Tapani, and Aygul at home. Although Aygul has given Casia the status of a freewoman, all Casia knows is being a slave. But, of course, Manumission is not from Shepherds; they don't have power in the North.
Casia has spent most of her life serving Aygul, and there are few changes with that. But, man, they are sharing has made a bigger impact. Casia is more sexual and playful by nature and enjoys intimate moments. Casia is also more adventurous and is seen with Tapani on his trips more often than Aygul.
Aygul is more romantic but has developed more Mistress than she was before. Aygul enjoys a beautiful household and nice life (Is her living in the North what she wanted?). If you are familiar with Hägar the Horrible comics, I could see her even a Helga-like character who sends Tapani on "shopping trips."
Both Aygul and Casia have one advantage over local people. They both have an education. They can read and write and knows mathematics. In addition, history and political studies help them to understand how society works.
