"Two Brothers" is truly heartbreaking in its theme...saving, sacrifice, brothers, Isayama always makes it hurt, intricately crafted for maximum emotional impact, he is great.... π LOL cruel. The first and second seasons was the issue survival and trust most of all. The third season was childhood, parents, and dreams.
Marcel and Porco, each one sacrificing himself to save Reiner. Like Ymir sacrificed herself, despite trying to be about herself, to live for herself, rewatching her last conversation with Reiner and Bertholdt (like brothers), it makes more sense why she chose to back with them to Marley, because she knew they would be fed to the next candidate for losing so much, so Ymir sacrificed herself too, to thank them for freeing her of being a regular Titan.
The Jaw Titan always sacrificing, which is apt for Falco, always trying to save Gabi to give her a long life, it was very moving that he was saved too, the best and most genuine and good and honest character. His poor brother Colt did not deserve that end, trying to save his brother, that one really, really hurt, burned alive, trying desperately to plea to Zeke to let them leave Shingashina because the falling airships blocked the other way. I mean, Nile and especially Pixis hurt too much as well.
Amidst the apocalyptic, end of the world battles, Armageddon, like you said Uranai, Attack on Titan is cruel and horrible, and "you can never have any hope here, never."
Zeke wants to save the world by euthanizing the lives of future Eldians, by killing their future to end the bloodshed, to end the eternal cycle of hell, and he wants to save his brother from the brainwashing by their father. To save Eren from himself, and yet Eren's ideals that he "was born into this world" always meant he would not agree with Zeke that it was "better off not being born." That was the key clue right there.
Ironic that Eren's other brother, Reiner, has always known him the best, that they are nothing alike, that Eren is not like him wanting go to sleep and die, Eren will keep fighting and Reiner just wants it to stop. Reiner trying to save his other younger "brother" now, Falco, by sacrificing himself and always Gabi of course. His voice actor was truly amazing here.
Eren: "There is no way in hell I'd ever go along with such a messed up plan..."
