Experiments with Rive—Tummy Lean + Belly Kick

Previously, I mentioned how I was beginning to feel stifled by my current animation software (Wick Editor). That feeling, along with the possibility of Wick being completely abandoned in the future, has urged me to go back and mess around with Rive, another vastly more powerful software. These are my early experiments, to get back into the feel of things. What do you think?

As you can see, it allows for a lot more movement possibilities, and looks almost 3D despite not being 3D at all. It has the unfortunate downside of not allowing a simple export option, so animations made using Rive would be video only. But hey, all this power! It can animate vertices! Don't know what that means? Well...it's really good!

I plan to make a simple animation using Rive to test the whole process, and how well I can mimic my usual process but in Rive. But before I do that, I'll likely do a few more experiments, to see how much Rive can handle before it breaks and get used to it. So far, I'm excited as to what new things I can visualise using Rive's power.

If all goes well, I plan to do interactive animations in Wick Editor, and more complicated video animation concepts in Rive. Let's hope it works out!

Oh, and I should add that these experiments are done a little bit at a time, say an hour or so a day and not interrupting my other animation work. Nicky's animation is progressing very well!

I'm impressed with how fluid the movements are. Personally I view your content more through the videos than through the games, so I'd be fine with the change.
