Basically they aren't purely opposite personalities or else fairy tail would be completely evil. They have just lived different lives from our fairy tail and it's shaped them to be as they are. Some like Mira, bisca, alzalk and such all have personalities almost identical to the ones we know with a fee differences in romance.
