An Alternative Mount
Added 2020-09-29 23:10:24 +0000 UTCI'm gonna level with you all: I'm not actually a fan of horses. They're weird looking, have crazy legs, are hard to draw, and apparently are very stupid animals.
And Witch & Wane is a fantasy comic, and fantasy comics traditionally mean horses. So I've been toying with alternatives for some other kind of mount. The world of Witch & Wane is awash in magic, it is a truly fantastical world. Why not lean into that?
I didn't care much for reinventing the chocobo, but inspiration came across my feed: giant raptor-cats. It's kinda ridiculous, but I'm weirdly taken with the notion. So I had to draw some.

These look phenomenal. It's amazing how much swapping out horses can do to drive home the "this isn't earth-based fanstasy" in a single visual.
