A survey, reflection on 2019, and thoughts for 2020!

So, similar to last year, here's another survey! I'll leave the survey open until mid-January (January 15th, 2020 11:59 PM PST), and I'll write about most of the results later on in the month.

A review of the past year

Looking back at my artwork, it definitely got a bit cuter in a way! I was inspired by a lot of cute and bright art this year, which explains the shift.
I feel that this year, my primary focus was on background, composition, and color. I've done a lot better in these 3 categories compared to my last few years, and I hope I continue this trend for 2020.
Lately, I feel like I produce a lot of "boring" drawings, in respect to poses and compositions, so I'll try to focus on that for the next few months.
Out of the pieces here, I really like:
- May - Kiara's my favorite character, and the whole piece feels heartwarming to me. I like the shading I did on it too!
- December - I never do group pictures, so this was my first one in... maybe a decade? I'd love to do more of them (because I love group pictures), so perhaps this year there'll be more group pictures from me!
Overall, I'm happy with the amount of progress this year, but I can definitely do way better for the next year!

Projects for the new year
There are a few things I'm aiming for next year:
- Attending anime cons! I'm really scared of doing it, but I think it would be a good thing to put myself out there and it would (probably) let me earn more money than I do now.
- A romance visual novel! I was planning on talking about it last month, but (cough) I forgot to post the journal post. I don't want to talk about it at the moment because I haven't put in enough work for the writing aspect, but I'll talk about it soon!
- Another fanart zine! In 2018, I made a small Fire Emblem zine. I didn't do one for 2019 because of cost aspects, but I want to do another one (maybe not specifically for Fire Emblem) for this year. Once I get it figured out, I'll be making private pieces for it throughout the months, but I'll post previews of it occasionally here.
Review of 2019 New Year Resolutions
Here's a link to my past journal on the beginning of 2019.
I think I did pretty good, but what I failed on were:
- Commit to studies. I did try to improve "on one aspect of drawing" every month, but I didn't do studies consistently.
- Organize my time better. I uh... have a schedule, but I don't completely follow it. I at least follow some aspects of it, but I don't follow everything to the dot.
I'll... I'll try better this year!
New Year Resolutions
Here's a general list of what I want to start doing and improving on for 2020:
- Get better at art. Do more studies, experiment more, all that jazz!
- Improve my art business. Expand more into the merchandise side, and also make my art process more efficient.
- Draw more ecchi/NSFW art. I never draw enough of it, so I'll try better this time!
- Stream more (consistently). Right now my streaming schedule is Monday through Friday, 4-5:30 PM PST, but sometimes I uh... don't stream. So basically be more consistent in my schedule, and communicate better with people about when I will and won't stream!
- Be more social. Talk to people more consistently (I'm a bit of a hermit at the moment), and make more friends!
- Experience more. Try harder to go out and do new things! Don't be happy with staying indoors all the time.
- Cook more (and better). I'm a kinda bad cook, but I want to cook and eat more new things!
- Exercise and stay healthy. I'm still young and (fairly) healthy, but I need to make sure I take care of myself for the future.
I'm already doing some of these things, but I'd like to continue to do it!
Patreon changes
- I finally added in Patreon roles on my Discord server. There are also Patreon-only channels where I post WIPs of SFW/NSFW art when I'm spamming my art too much on Patreon I'll also be posting the polls/journals over there too, in case you're too lazy to check here. :)
- There's a new tier (Superdot, $100) where the new reward would be an experimental art request. Essentially, you would give me the same information as before (character, pose, expression, etc.) and the result you would get is a random style/shot, where I would be experimenting in the lineart, composition, coloring, etc. It might look like my standard drawing, or it could look like something new.
